Either you are a fan or supporter. A fan is temporary and creates posts that state "I am leaving because of a situation I don't fully understand but will judge bases on my lack of facts and extensive amount of opinions". A supporter would be there and wish his fighter the best and hope he continues to do what he has been doing from the beginning. Kelly already fought Hopkins, the man who beat Hopkins and hard hitting Edison Miranda. Why would he worry about Williams? Williams will not wobble him like Taylor or Hopkins. I am no fan or supporter of Pavlik. He is just a fighter to me that I don't mind seeing. Hopefully he continues to put on exciting shows but his fans and supporters should know their place.

What? How is it that you "fans" have no problem with Football and Basketball players sitting out due to injuries then you question a fighter's heart? WTF? :patsch Those dudes are playing GAMES. Fighting ain't a game. You don't fight elite competition half assed. :nono

Do you read? He had a damn staff infection! MRSA to be exact. A super bug that KILLS PEOPLE. The same crap that took down a few Cleveland Browns. He was probably feeling sick as hell for a few months before his knuckle busted open leaking puss.

There are no "league minimums" or "contract guarantees", if he doesn't fight, he doesn't get paid. Why in the hell would he (or any other championship level fighter) fake it? He is doing what he needs to do to get healthy AND stay relevant.

You mofos either need to READ or start "loving" another sport. With "fans" like you who needs haters? :-(

coming back to fight another tomato can instead of Williams...I'll give Pavlik the benefit of the doubt, because I like him, but he's got to step up and explain this. Because it looks really, really bad to the average boxing fan.

While I agree with you that its the best option for Kelly Pavlik. BUT the way his team handled it was attrocious. If indeed he had a staph infection theres no way he could be in top shape now to fight Williams. His team knew this from the start. They kept Williams hanging on till his patience ran out & he found a new opponent. Then they suddenly come up with Pavlik-Espino which leaves a bad odor in my book.
I seriously think Bernard Hopkins did take Pavliks soul when he schooled him. Look at Tito Trinidad he was never the same after Prof Hopkins ring lecture lol
It just might backfire on Pavlik though If Espino is in shape and comes to win he could surprise everyone

I'm still a fan but yeah I'm having trouble justifying his actions. I honestly think he doesn't have very good people around him. Like they are a bunch of amatuers really. They make bad decisions left right and center. Plus he's probably not been handling stardom well. And that has to be put down in part to the people around him as well.

Pavlik had an infection, it wasn't 100% sure that he could fight Williams at that date, they couldn't wait more, so they canceled the fight. Turns out Pavlik can fight, Williams is already scheduled to fight someone else so he'll fight someone else. Is that it? Or is there something else?

I was his fan . . . and still his fan.

I like the guy because of his move forward fighting style . . . the action he brings win or lose . . . as much as I'm also disappointed on what's happening to his career . . . it's not enough for me to turn my back on him.

There are a lot things happening behind scene . . . and we don't know the whole truth about these. l want to see what happens to him next.

it wasnt that the fight was cancelled outright. once pav's camp realized that the condition of his hand wouldnt allow them to have a full camp, they tried to get another postponement from williams's camp. williams camp had seen enough and said **** it were fighting on the 5th. i don't blame them one bit, i'm sure they didnt want to risk yet another postponement should they agree to another one. paul needs to get in the ring too.

but what you have to understand is that prior to even being told he was staph free, he was under doctor's orders not to even break a sweat for risk of re-infecting the site of his most recent surgery for about two months. the hand is not ok right now. he's still having a hard time bending his finger. if they had their way i'm sure pav wouldnt fight until sometime in janurary. the wbc has said fight or lose the belt. espino was picked on very very short notice to keep the wbc off pav's back.

now you can debate whether he should just give the belt up, heal and then go get it back...but he's choosing to fight at less than 100%

99.99% of the general boxing public that buys the tickets and the PPV's have NO idea this happened at all. Nothing to see here, move along.....

for me, I was a fan, still am a fan but i do agree with some of the criticisms. I look at it like this: if it were another fighter, would I be on their case about it? The answer is yes. I don't agree with everything pavlik has done, or much of what he's done lately, but I'm still a fan. Hopefully he'll get his **** together

Ive noticed with the Pavlik fans whenever something bad happens and its all on team Pavlik, they get all quiet and express dissappointment when they get called out here, but when 1 Pavlik fan finds some kind of rationale explanation for it that takes the heat off Pavlik they all jump back on board and defend him adamantly taking back their feelings of dissappointment.

you have a point BUT there are a lot of solid, reasonable pavlik fans on this board that retain their objectivity

i just said i dont blame paul one bit for not wanting to wait one more day to fight.

and i am disappointed at what happened. who wouldnt be...pav fan or otherwise. i think it sucks that he's stuck having to fight a can w/ one hand just to keep the wbc off his back. i would love to see him fight williams.
