How many forty five year old boxers could have knocked out Michael Moorer?

Hypothetically I think a Wlad or a Zhang could. In actuality no 45 year old that actually stepped into the ring aside from Foreman is winning that match.

Either Klitschko, McCall, and imagined versions of Wilder, Ortiz, and Zhang could do it. I’d expect Wlad to pull it off.

If Vitali fought till 2016 and Wlad fought till 2021 hypothetically? Vitali was very injury prone though even in his prime and surely by 2016 like 3 years after he retired it would have only been even harder.....

It’s a loaded thread because few pro boxers chose to fight in their mid forties and even fewer spent their thirties resting instead of accumulating wear and tear. I don’t think Moorer was very good and feel like if Vitali got through a camp he might stop him. Same for Wlad.

Not McCall. McCall was never a great puncher and had very few ko's after the age of 44. Moorer would toy with a 45 year old McCall. Hell, Moorer could stand flat footed in front of McCall for 12 rounds and there is nothing McCall could do.

Maybe not. It looks like he stopped knocking guys out in 2006 for whatever reason.

You thought McCall was the worst pick???!!!! Wilder's not even 40 and is shot to bits. I couldn't fathom how he looks in another 6 years from now

Jim Brown was thirty years old when he retired from the National Football League to pursue a career in Hollywood. If he came back after resting for his entire thirties and half of his forties would he still have performed at a Hail of Fame level. If the answer is no what does that say, if anything, about professional football, professional boxing, and George Foreman?

Oh, George Foreman is now a running back. I’ve heard it all.

So boxing is the only sport where an "old man" can compete at a championship level. What does it say about the sport?

    even in boxing, its rare.

It doesn't say anything except that boxing is unique in that one punch power gives older fighters a chance to win.

Other sports do not have the equivalent of one punch ko power. A great 3 point shooter in basketball isn't going to do well at 45 because shooting one 3 pointer isn't the same as throwing a one punch right hand.
