Looking at Maxim's record, there appears to be 11 heavyweights who were rated at one point or another by The Ring or the NBA whom Maxim defeated. They were not necessarily rated when Maxim defeated them. Lee Oma (202 lbs) Red Burman (186 lbs) Curtis Sheppard (187 lbs) Buddy Walker (191 lbs) Phil Muscato (183 lbs) Jersey Joe Walcott (192 lbs) Jimmy Bivins (178 lbs) Joe Kahut (188 lbs) Olle Tandberg (208 lbs) Buddy Scott (180 lbs) Al Brown (265 lbs) Patterson and Satterfield were fought as light-heavies.
Excellent post. Now we can concentrate on working out whether they were ranked at the time they fought and also where they were actually ranked. We can also debate how good H2H they were in the big picture. @SolomonDeedes is unbelievable with this stuff but he's only on now and again and i'm not sure how much spare time he has on his hands.
