How many good years does Wlad have left in the tank?

suge white im surprised at your generous estimate. im a big wlad fan and i reckon he's only got 4 years left. admittedly i feel they would be peak years and then he'll get out of the game straight away.

assuming he has similar genetics to his brother i say 35 is when he'll feel the difference. perhaps his hand swelling he gets will worsen? or some other ailment since it's a brutal sport. but on the flip side vitali did kick boxing in the early years and looked amazingly fluid compared to his 30's as a boxer when he appeared more stiffer in the legs. since wladimir hasn't abused his legs like kick boxers do i think he can reach 35 without surgery like his bro had done.

wlad seems the methodical trainer. he never comes into camp overweight. if you do that there's more chance of pulling/tearing something due to busting your gut in a short timeframe. he also has huge arm and hand bones which might also mean he wont fracture them easily. and with proper technique i dont think he'll tear a rotorcuff or something. but yeah due to wealth he's made i think the first sign of his abilities being hindered by breakdowns will be when he exits.

out of curiousity why did you give him 7 good years? is that against bums etc? :think

oh i forgot something else. he might also retire if mental desire is no longer there. if he unifies and his brother holds a belt by end of next year at earliest i can easily see him retiring after one or two defenses because he achieved what he dreamed of. i cannot imagine him staying much longer cause of how he sounds convinced that is what he plans. tho i know boxers can be notorious for retiring however.

If he keeps setting up the bums with the jab and gives the goodnight punch after demoralizing them due to the ineffectiveness of the opponent to deal with the jabs...and fighting the tough fighters with Uncle Manny's "Jab & Grab," there's no end in sight.

Btw, I've previously predicited he won't fight Peter again.

he hasn't jab and grabbed much since the Peter fight, he hasn't had to. In fact he's hardly taken a punch worth noting, so I think he will have no trouble leaving the game and not be dillusional like holyfield.

Wlad has a similar style to Lewis, but has had a lot more fights than Lewis had at his age. Wlad is reasonably shopworn at 49-3, compared with Lewis' 29-1 at the same age. That being the case, I think Wlad will probably be obviously past his prime by about four years from now.

I put down 5 years, but that might be generous. Given how much money he's made already and that I don't see him fighting until his body breaks down or he gets punch drunk, I think he'd have to feel seriously challenged by somebody to want to keep fighting that long. The question is, will a competitor emerge around that time frame that would make it too tempting for Wlad to not call it a career? If not, we're probably looking at between 8-10 fights left for him.

It wouldn't surprise me to see him sit out a year (or perhaps even 2) to give the division a chance to find a star, and then come back for one last fight a few years from now.

I don't think he'll sit out ,he wants to unify more than anybody and has been active and probobly will continue to do that.I just hope he does not have to fight Bryd or Brock again, nobody wants to see that.

I agree. Byrd-Klitschko 3 is too much to bear, it would be worth dumping his IBF belt to avoid that.

But I doubt Byrd will beat Brock or Povetkin so we probably won't see that.

I should've been more clear- in about 3 years I see him possibly sitting out if he's unified.
