Have been boxing on and off for years. been back now for 5 months am serious about it and cant wait to compete in the near future so yes i have boxed.
On my college boxing team and then trained for years in the vegas boxing gyms after that. Luckily I'm big and strong for my weight class, so after college I would be walking around at 5'8'' 128 lbs for years and years and they would be throwing boys in against me in sparring - but against real pros I would certainly fold, I don't like beatings at all and I like my wins nice and easy. strength and speed were never an issue unless I made 118 lbs or below where my punch resistance decreased and the fights seemed "tougher" as my energy waned. I would never be a pro - better ways to make a living than getting your brains beat in. No shame in an amateur boxer saying, this beating is enough tonight; it's different when you are getting paid.
Only done some training/sparring in my college boxing club. Trying to get into a decent gym since my club has turned inactive.
I've been training on and off for about 10 years, done some sparring but never had any sanctioned bouts. Right now I'm training and trying to melt off about 50lbs and improve my skill. If I get my cardio squared away and my defense sorted out, I'd like to have Masters or White Collar bout or two...just to do it. I love boxing. Its the only sport I follow or really give a **** about . American Football is ****ing boring and puts me to sleep. I do follow the local Major League Baseball team a bit and enjoy the games, but have zero desire to play. Hockey is cool, but I don't follow it or have any desire to play. I'll watch MMA if its on, but don't care enough about it to follow that either.
I had my first match in last September and I competed in Finnish national championship tournament this year. Next year I want to get in the Finals. Its great sport, I just should have started it when I was younger (28 now).
Been going to a gym for a little over a month now, done a lot of bag and mitt training, shadow boxing and drills, and had a few spars with a range of guys (taller, shorter, heavier, more experienced, equal experience). Don't read too much into this as: a) I'm over 30 b) It's for a 'white collar boxing' charity event, and c) I'm probably not fighting in the event In sparring two weeks ago I took a wicked shot to the body which - it turns out - bruised my ribs. Before that took a shot to the jaw then head that had me stumbling (but didn't fall - because I'm so tough, obvioulsy ). Not been training fully, but really raring to get back into it - just as soon as I can lace my boots without this damn stabbing rib pain, lol. Despite this, I'm really enjoying it, and have noticed changes already - more confidence, better body tone, can run up a flight of stairs without losing my breath/feeling burning in my calves, etc. Took me a while to try it, but I'm glad I did and would tell ANYONE on here - regardless of age, weight, conditioning - to give it a go. Find somewhere good, with a decent coach (and avoid jackasses trying to use new guys as moving heavy bags) and you'll LOVE it!
i finally got into a gym for the first time a couple weekends ago when i went to the city to visit family, i have been training by myself for some time now. the coach was very impressed and is going to try and hook me up with a guy nearby that used to coach the national team. i hope to take the sport as far as i can, ive been in love with it for as long as i can remember. boxing and mma are the only sports i follow, hockey used to be a favorite of mine but the sport has gone soft and i cant handle watching it anymore
I have gone to a boxing gym for about 6 months only for once/twice a week with no sparring though. I plan on starting to spar soon.
Have trained on and off since i was 15 just to keep fit (29 now), and sparred a few times. Have lot of friends who have fought amatuer or unlicensed and sparred and trained with them (they mostly took it easy on me thankfully!). Ive recently lost a couple of stone and feel fit so looking to have an amatuer bout this coming season, before is to late and i end up hitting the kids with 'i coulda been a contender' story! Not expecting to go anywhere at my age but as a fan whos trained for years just want to have a couple of goes and experiance the whole thing, making weight, training, fighting etc.
Was just wondering how many posters on here have boxed or do box or just general boxing fans. I'm interested in what people want to see more in the sport and what makes them a fan etc. same with people that have boxed/box as some compete in the sport but don't really like it on a 'fan' level. I am Adam little and box for Hatton promotions and also trained by Ricky. I littraly love the sport and couldn't live without it now! IMO the best sport in the world is boxing, the dedication, determination and skill of boxers is admirable. But what do people want to see more of?
I have never boxed, I wouldn't rule it out as a hobby some time in the future but can't ever see myself as a world champion I've only really followed boxing properly for a few years, don't claim to know it all but I watch as much boxing as anybody. Oh and welcome to the forum Adam, good to have another pro on here.

Trained for couple of years. Had some amateur fights. My father died and jacked it in. I now write about boxing.
