I was an armchair fan all my life, and only recently began amateur boxing, at age 36. I compete in the elite (19+) novice division and had 3 fights in the last 2 months (2 wins 1 loss). Started boxing classes (drills & cardio only, no sparring) last year, and decided it was time to give this thing a try and wouldn't think of doing anything else.
Much the same for me. :good Best advice is, if your thinking about it, do it. Once that time of your life has gone its gone, and then you either get to look back with some sense of satisfaction, or with a sense of regret. True of many things!
did it since high school on an on/off basis at various gyms, but essentially i'm terribly lazy and unstructured so I never bothered to compete. @ 23 y.o., I realised my life was kind of a cluster**** and in major need of a rehaul so I decided to give it another go and try and stick with it long enough to launch a successful amateur career.
16 year old training boxing right now. And I trained for about 5 months, but I don't have any amateur fights yet. Although I want to compete in amateur boxing my coach still didn't quite say about me going to amateur yet, although he did set up my first exhibition match with someone else from other gym. But being 16 year old has its disadvantages due to high school which I have to focus studying SAT and maintaining good GPA since I also want to go to college.
Get's harder when you have to work full time and want to do well there. THought the same when I was your age.
