How many heavyweight champions would Povetkin beat?

    I think Povetkin is a bit under rated. He's got a good chin, fast hands, decent power, decent skills, and good intangibles / heart.

    How many past heavyweight champions do you think he would defeat in a 15 round match?

    I'm thinking the number is going to be higher than 8.

    He beat everyone as a pro ( 29-1 21 KO's ) except Wlad, and cleaned up as an amateur super heavyweight. Chagaev, Byrd, Rhaman and Donald are his biggest names.

    You'll have to use your eyes and make the call. I posted a high light link. I'll assume others have seen enough film from 1897 to present to make a call.

    I think he beats many past lineal champions.

    Not one of them in their prime and at least three of which totally shot.

    I've seen plenty of him. Good fighter but not someone I'd favor over too many lineal champs unless you're s****ing the bottom of the barrel with the usual suspects, ie, Leon Spinks, etc..

    I think Povetkin has better skills, chin and power than many lineal champions. He's also bigger than most.

    And he's an active type who can be out slugged by a bigger punchers, but not likely out boxed by those who lack big time power.

    Could? Okay. But I think he'd lose. Povetkin has an active style and plenty of stamina. He'd out work Byrd and would have little to fear in terms of Byrd's fire power.

    Byrd drew with Golota, bearly defeated McCline, and got a bit of a gift vs Oquendo. Byrd was 33 for Oquendo and Golota, and 34 for McCline.

    Povetkin is better than all of those names, and has the perfect style for Byrd.

    I color coded some picks. This should drum up some activity.

    Byrd was past it already when Oquendo, Golota and McCline occured. His last prime fights were against Tua and Holyfield.

    At the time of Williamson and Wlad 2 it was obvious that Byrd's prime has long gone.

    After Wlad brutally beat and KOd him Byrd became shot.

    He lost to Povetkin and was KOd and beaten brutally by light heavyweight jorneyman at 37.

    His reflexes were gone, he reminded Roy Jones jr vs Calzaghe and Green at that stage of his career.

    If he has become the banger he appears in the last few fights - and however that happened etc. etc. - then he's legit. I'd make him the #3 of the Klitschko era now.

    With big gloves and modern rules over 15, I'd pick him to beat everyone before Dempsey presuming there's not a rupture in his 13,14,15th round (big presumption but how else do you proceed without something to go on?). I think Dempsey would beat him.

    I think Tunney and Schmeling would beat him and Baer is very close he'd beat everyone else pre-Louis, post-Dempsey by my eye. After Louis, I think he would start to struggle a bit. Obviously I'd pick Louis to beat him.

    This is something that you occasionally see with Klitschko fans.

    He didn’t beat a great fighter, so they try to manufacture one.

    People need to go back to the post “who did he beat”.

    I am not saying that he is no good; I think that he is very good, but we have to keep it in proportion.
