Evander landed a total of 225 power shots over twelve rounds, of 347 attempts. That's a 65% connect rate - and fans of a certain age can probably hear the familiar refrain from Jim Lampley echoing in their minds...

I’m assuming you mean while as past their prime as Foreman was? That would be seventeen years past his best. Not a lot of fighters are even in the ring anymore seventeen years after their prime. The answer is a resounding zero. Equivalents would be a 2005 Tyson or 1924 Johnson. Holmes was a long way over the hill but didn’t take that kind of punishment, & would have to have fought the peak Holyfield around 1999 for an equivalent past-peak margin.

I think he means any age. Quite a few wouldn't have IMO.

If it’s any age I think it’s not out of the question that some could.

Nope, was talking about period. Holyfield put a savaging on him that even a lot of prime greats mightn't have stood up to. And of course Big George was, as you illustrated, the better part of two decades past his best.

These are the four names that were forefront in my brain.

Idk man...in the whole trilogy, did Holy ever lay into him with as much vigor for as long a sustained one-way barrage as he put on Foreman? We're not just talking about "taking punches from a prime Holyfield" - Alex freaking Stewart managed to bring him the full twelve in their rematch, between Foreman and Bowe I - the point is getting wailed on by a Holyfield biting down on his gumshield and tossing heat.

Honestly I think quite a few. Especially once we start getting into some of the larger heavies. Holyfield could certainly crack. I’m not doubting that at all. But he also wasn’t an especially devastating puncher above 200lbs.

Quite a few iron chinned guys… Foreman could be hurt and shook up more than people like to admit I’ve noticed…. One thing about Evander is he tended to punch all shoulders and arms, as a combination got longer it got worse, he could hit hard at times no doubt but he tended to abandon his hips. still George had a very good chin no doubt and that clip is a feat.

Got to factor in the connect rate & number of power shots. That’s unique to the Foreman fight.

A power shot from an arm puncher like Evander is probably not as hard you’d think… Taylor landed a lot of shots on Chavez, Dorsey hit guys a lot too.

Under normal circumstances no he wasn't - a solid but not unbrookable puncher at heavyweight - but we're talking a dialed-in version landing a bunch of virtually unanswered bombs.

Holyfield admitted to being out on his feet twice, and thinking in the late rounds all his teeth got knocked out.

I think that's an at least as interesting question. Holyfield was near peak at he time, 14 years younger than old man George.
