His official losses were against Jose Luis Ramirez, Oscar De La Hoya, Felix Trinidad and Carlos Bojorquez. Firstly I want to know if you think he actually lost these fights. More interestingly though I'd like to know if you think he ever got lucky on the scorecards and didn't deserve the win. I'm seeing a split decision win over Wilfredo Rivera so maybe that could have gone the other way. Thoughts?
I just want to say, I always felt the ODLH loss actually was legit, even though-and I'm not saying this is any individual's reason for saying it-it seems to be the cool kid's opinion that it wasn't legit. Pete just admired his work too much, and let it slip away enough, even though he put up a cool fight. Making someone look stupid isn't how points are scored exactly. It's fun. It might be part of the horrendous ring generalship scoring that has lessened objectivity and increased subjectivity to absurdity, but in terms of the majority of how you need to score a fight, just provoking embarrassment in your opponent does not necessitate a 'W.' Win, lose, draw, none of those outcomes for him would've been inherently illegitimate. This opinion is fact.
iall.i thought he did lose to Ramirez. Running doesn't cut it. Ramirez was busier and bodypunches count. DeLaHoya Trinidad
The Ramirez fight was a highway robbery. DLH was very close and could have gone Pea's way, but not in any way a robbery. A close fight went against him. It happens. I had it for DLH by a point, I think. Trinidad clearly beat him, not much to say there. Haven't watched the fight against Bojorquez.
Only the losses after the DLH fight. The "loss" and "draw" to Ramirez and JCC are real stains on the sport.
The last three although the Dela hoya loss was debatable. I don't think it was a robbery. The Ramirez loss was a robbery
