he wasnt lineal after jeffs , but he did initiate a new lineage after his reign by someone else taking his title, since there was no competing lineage at the time and there needed to be one.

So no he wasnt lineal when he won the title but it became lineal afterwards, certinaly it was lineal when he lost it.
