yeah, potential and talent are different. he had potential to be really really good ad he proved that by beating Muhammad Ali. had he followed up with that and beat greater fighters in that era, be could be a great fighter... he wasted his potential by not trying to fight Lyle, or Frazier... he couldve even
tried to fight bonavana or chuvalo.

I disagree that that he didn't have a good chin. he took good punishment from holmes, Ali, and Cobb. Against foreman, he was getting walked down, and didn't really have anything to offer. but he did get caught in that fight and he didn't have an answer... therefore you have the freezing. against shavers, he caught a lot of weird, blunt, blows, leading up to the knockout. im not the only one that thinks this. against a puncher, for whatever reason, he just didn't do well, regardless of the freezing or having a bad chin.
and against cooney, it's like he got rocked right away, and then barely fired anything back. in these 3 fights, he didn't have an answer, so I think he froze up. plus, he didn't get floored in a single shot. All if this leads me to believe he that he has an alright chin, but he doesn't have the mentality to deal with them.

you don't have to call my post idiotic because you don't agree with it. a few if your posts have been so but I don't say any of that.

The ones I feel fairly sure bout :

    Sullivan
    Corbett
    Hart
    Burns
    Willard
    Tunney
    Schmeling
    Sharkey
    Carnera
    Baer
    Braddock
    Charles
    Patterson

Post 78 I won't bother with the alphabet champs ...

Not sure about Fitz, Jeffries or Johnson ... Ken might have beaten all three ...

People can say this and that about Norton from here to eternity but, fact is, Norton would've done well and beaten many of the pre-1960s heavyweight champs going back to 1887....... Unlike how many intellectual jack-offs' claim Norton was a bum---is all bollocks..... Norton was a good heavyweight of the classic era 70s....... WORD! Norton would've been a monster contender / champion in various era's between 1887 to 1960...... NO DOUBT!!

Sullivan admitted boxing technique had moved on in Jeffries day, it was a whole other level in Norton's day

Yes,styles maketh the fight, indeed. An Ali or a Holmes would be extended all the way by Ken,but whereas Ken would get quickly flattened by a Foreman,Ali or Holmes would find someone like George easier to deal with than they would Norton.

He said that there were more technical boxers in Jeffries day, and if you are going to make a big issue of thios selected anecdote then you would have to take his other observations into acount as well.

For whatever its worth, Sullivan was by far the most destructive puncher of all the heavyweight champions pre Dempsey. I know thast you are one of the few who actualy gives Norton a good chance at beating Dempsey.
