    its not the number of losses; more the nature of the loss.

    for example, marquez has several losses on his record, all closely disputed (apart from the mayweather fight) but is in no way a 'shot' fighter (although he is, expectedly, way past prime now).
    when you look at the likes of someone like katsidis. he has lost most of his last outings but hasn't looked necessarily 'shot'; just that he's at the limit of his potential and sadly unable to improve up to (or past) the level of his opposition.
    for 'shot' see roy jones jr. ketting ko'd by fighters he would've breezed through earlier in his career kind of shows you're 'shot'.......
