How many many rounds will Smith need to win to get a decision against Canelo?

Smith is going to get tooled he arguably won't win a round. The difference in class is as vast as the Pacific Ocean.

The question is moot. Smith isn't on Canelo's level.

As many as Marcos Maidana would have had to have won to have gotten a decision vs Mayweather.

    117-111 116-112 114-114

Only the draw 114-114 was an honest score, meaning the judge that scored it 117-111 robbed Maidana of 3 rounds to get to that score which means Maidana likely would have had to have won 10 rounds on an honest scorecard to have a chance with that judge and 9 rounds to have a chance with the other bozo who scored it 116-112.

That's boxing for you, a typical fighter who doesn't have the same name recoginition and star power of the cash cow normally is down at least 3 rounds before the bell for round 1 even rings.

My point is that this isn't an issue to throw at just Canelo, its an issue that's been ingrained in boxing for decades on end, certainly for as long as I can remember.

Agreed, but that's besides the point.
A fighter like Smith really has zero chance of judges giving him a competitive round he normally would win an the average persons scorecard.
Fighters like Smith really go into these fights needing a knockout to win and should probably gameplan accordingly.
It took Juan Manuel Marquez 4 tries to finally get the gameplan correct in his chances against the cash cow Manny Pacquiao!

Smith is tailor made for Canelo. He's not a great mover, which is what troubles Canelo. Smith also isn't a big puncher, so there's little chance of a KO. Finally, he's wide open for counters.

Canelo might be overrated, but he's more than good enough to beat the likes of Smith.

I agree, but again, that's besides the point.

I think back to when Oscar Delahoya fought Felix Sturm. I don't think any fight fans thought Sturm had any qualities to which to trouble Delahoya, but the reality is that all it took Sturm was to stay busy with the jab and have it on DLH's face all night long.

DLH didn't win more than 3 rounds against Sturm, but he walked out of that ring with 115-113 UD scores from all three of the dishonest judges. Scorecards that had been filled out before round 1 was even fought.

Smith has little chance vs Canelo, but its not out of the realm of possibility that he can outhustle and make it competitive if Canelo has a hell of a time making the 154 lbs limit and walks into that ring a depleted fighter. Not probable I agree, but still possible.

What are you on about? You're far more likely to be robbed in pretty much any other major boxing nation.
