If Holmes were to fight Louis, Ali, and Lewis 3x each, how many matches would Holmes win? Assume the fighters are in their prime or near primes on the following dates: Louis 1937-1940 Holmes 1978-1981 Ali 1964-1967 Lewis 1997-2001
Well Holmsey ain't winning more than 1 of 3 against Louis. Louis would knockout Holmes at least 2 times. No way holmes has an answer for Louis' right hand, which was Larry's kryptonite. I think Larry can take 2 out of 3 vs Lennox, especially since lennox has always had trouble with good jabbers. Ali beats holmes 3x out of 3. Ali was just plain better. Too gifted for holmes. Ali's double right lead would tear holmes apart. Not to mention Ali's faster hands, much faster feet, and underated physical strength. I have Larry winning 2, maybe 3.
Holmes wud use his movement 2 own louis. Ali was **** . He wud lose all 3 against holmes m8 . lennox beats larry 1 , larry beats lennox 1, then 1 draw .
I would like to add that I know certain posters here(typically big larry holmes fans) love to lump holmes together with Ali and Louis. Sorry, but I just don't see it. Larry is one of the greatest, but those 2 are the greatest. Larry just does not belong with them. He belongs with the fraziers, marcianos, foremans, johnsons, dempseys, listons.
Welcome back SuzieQ, and good luck to your Patriots, who as I told you were most certainly past their prime need to re-load in the draft! Sorry, could not resist. Louis had major problems vs. movers a jabbers, and to be honest, so did Ali. I would not say Ali takes 3 of 3 vs. Holmes.
Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali would be too much for Holmes. Larry vs Lennox is intriguing though. I'd take Larry 2 of 3 at least.
You never lose your wits do you Mendoza. Im surprised you even mentioned the patriots, after they made you eat your own words all of last season. Patriots finished 14-2, which last time I checked was the best record in the NFL. You did not even consider them superbowl contenders last year, yet they proved you wrong(Not the first time you've been proven wrong). Dont worry about the draft either. We have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds. Including 2 first rounders. We will be fine. I am looking forward to another 14-2 season next year. We have one of the youngest defenses in the league. We will be fine.
If there is an NFL next season. The NFL union boss is the worst type of lawyer. 14-2 means little when you are one and done in the playoffs. Its been over 6 years since the Patriots were last champions. Anyway, welcome back.
stylistically, Holmes Louis is very interesting. Holmes is bigger than louis, Faster than louis, and he jabs and moves better than louis, which is something that has always troubled louis. i think there might just be an upset against louis.
You just don't beat a prime joe louis. Fact. He loses all 3 to him. Altho it isn't inconceivable that he too could "see something" against a younger joe louis. Prime ali was a beast. Victories over patterson and liston are testament to that. Altho I personally feel his second career was greater. I don't see anyone outside of louis, rocky and frazier troubling young prime ali. As for lewis, lets have it right, in his prime he lost to rahman so he can lose to anyone with a knockout punch. But in rematches he was amazing. I'd say he wins 1 against lennox.
At least 3 wins, but most likely he'd win 4-5 matches. I'd have him win at least 2/3 against Louis (Possibly 3 but I'll give Louis 1 match since I think Larry did have some deficiency to right hands, no matter how overstated that may be). I'll give him 1 win against Ali, although he could easily lose all 3. Hell, he could win 2 or 3 against Ali but that's not what I'm going with. Against Lewis, I don't know. He's going to win at least 1 and with Lewis trouble with Mercer and Bruno, especially when they jabbed I think Holmes has a solid chance at winning 2/3 of those matches. Holmes and Lewis are really well matched. You didn't get to see Lewis against such speed and skill, and you didn't see Holmes with a super-heavyweight that could box and punch.
