    ?????????

So many people say that David Haye, former European and Undisputed Cruiserweight World Champion, with a tremendous KO percentage has to "prove himself" at Heavyweight before he gets a title shot.

So, what about all the other world champions and even former World Champions who were given immediate title shots at the weight above them?

    Did you moan then?

Look at all the fighters through out history who stepped up and were given immediate title shots at The Man in the next weight class, or only had one or two fight's at the new weight before they fought The Man.

Without these fight's we would have missed out on a lot great fight's.

Now, when the heavyweight division is so crap, and you have a young, good looking, ripped as hell, former Undisputed World Champion with a record like Hayes, and you say he needs to "prove himself" and "does'nt derserve a title shot", well, then you are talking out of your ass, are'nt you?

You have a man who KTFO everyone and would be willing to step up and fight a man who in many peoples opinion is THE best heavyweight on earth.

Then what do you do? You moan!

You moan that fighter's duck other fighters then you moan when one wants to take on the best. :patsch

Did you moan when Calzaghe stepped up and was given an immediate title shot at Hopkins?

Did the Undisputed World Super Middleweight Champion have to prove himself at Light Heavyweight before he was given a title shot against The Man, Bernard Hopkins?

Did you moan when Bernard Hopkins skipped Super Middleweight and was given a shot at The Man at Light Heavyweight Antonio Tarver?

****, Wlad has never even been a REAL World Champion.

Haye has been The Man at his weight (don't give me any crap about the IBF title). He looks the part, has a tremendous KO record, hit's very hard, has shown heart in his career and travelled to a Don King fighters own back yard to KTFO The Man to become The Man.

Any idea that David "The Hayemakaer" Haye does'nt deserve a title shot next week is horse **** and just shows that people are jealous of David Haye.

You never moaned about Hopkins vs Traver, Calzaghe vs Hpkins and all the other fights liek this that took place without the challenmger "proving himself" at the new weight.

If a fighter like David Haye, with a record like his and a TRUE World Champion does'nt deserve an immediate title shot then I don't know who does.

Now, stop the hate because it's not Daves fault that he owns you in every department. :deal :yep

Be happy that we have a true world champion with big balls, big punches and the look of a proper heavyweight who is ready to step up and put on a show! :good

haye shouldnt go for an immediate shot, because he'll benefit by having heavyweight experience.

Eliminators and ABC rankings are a joke anyway, so I dont think he needs to prove himself to get a shot, if enough people wanna see the fight, the fight should happen.

Id rather watch haye in a title fight than most of the overrweight gun shy eastern Europeans we got at the moment...

    Wlad Vs Potvetkin = :tired

I've got no problems with that jc but when people say that he does'nt deserve one when so many fighters throughout history have been granted one and no one complained, well it's just plain hate.

Yeah- this is a great thread!! Another point can be made about jones or even mayweather.

Wouldn't past boxer's performances dismiss people's idea of "needing to prove" before a title shot?

We wouldn't have nearly as many multi-divisional champs then. RJJ-Mayweather-Sweetpea.

At the same time, people are actually getting behind fights like Pac-DLH... so and some of these are the same people who are knocking Haye for challenging heavies.

It's basically a good thing, as boxing fan's we should be interested in fights that are exciting. If someone is boring to watch then it is faily reasonable to expect, in a profession where pretty much every penny a boxer earns comes from the fans either directly or indirectly it, that they will get less exposure and have less opportunities. On the other hand, a boxer who is consistently involved in exciting fights and generates interest in between fights is far more likely to get the big fights. Remember, without the fans all boxing would be is two skilled guys having a fight for nothing in an empty room.

That said, I have total respect for all boxers regardless of their ability to entertain.
