Is he on a fight by fight basis or is he signed long term? Will Dazn come in with mega money for him or can they not compete with Sky as they are a subscription service with Canelo already on the books. Carn't wait for fight week with Eddie being back doing the Sky interviews its going to be awkward AF.
I think Sky will marginalise Eddie as much as possible in the fight build up. AJ is almost certain to re-sign with Sky, there is no way that going with DAZN is good for his brand/business at this moment. It’s for the same reason, why Canelo has ducked to PBC/Fox for the Plant fight. Quite were that leaves AJs relationship with Matchroom is going to be interesting, especially as it looks like his company 258 have acquired Whitaker and some of the other Olympians. I hope he stays with Eddie/Matchroom, but I’m not sure he needs too.
If I was AJ I’d go on my own. He’s well managed and marketed by 258 and I think he’s outgrown Matchroom personally. Sky’s promo for him will reach far more eyes & ears than Hearn/DAZN and he doesn’t need to be part of the IFL Matchroom cult. Get another Sky box office deal and fill his undercards full of 258 fighters.
I don't see this at all. Canelo's gone to PBC/Fox because that's the only way he can get the unification fight he wants. That said, I do agree that sticking with Sky would make a lot of sense for AJ, but things like undercards then get very messy. Why would Hearn put his top fighters on a Sky Sports undercard now? And if Matchroom can't promote the show on Sky, would they allow Joshua to lead a card presumably promoted by Sky's main UK promoter Boxxer? It could get very complex and end up with a shitshow of an undercard. Does anyone know what international rights DAZN hold for Joshua and for how long? Right now I know they hold most, but not sure if fight-by-fight or a longer term deal.
