How many more Roach fighters have to get hammered before he's not a "great trainer" ?

This is getting silly. His fighters keep getting killed, and people still talk about him as if he's some sort of training god

I thought he and Ariza took a big hit last night.

Another big name of theirs takes a fall.

He can't make Khan grow a good chin, he can't make Chavez a fast skilled fighter. He still helped Khan to 2 world titles and big wins, improved JCC a lot, guided Pacquaio for a long time. Can't win them all, doesn't make him a bad trainer. Might not be a great defensive trainer but Khan etc have to take a lot of the responsibility for that by not listening to Roach and keeping Garcia at range like he said

He has achieved more in his life than you probably ever will. He knows more about boxing than you probably ever will. And more importantly, a very, very overlooked role as a trainer, he can teach and instruct boxing to boxers. Something I'm sure you can't do. :hi:

Relax....its boxing, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but if you want to really look at his statistics....Roach is one of the trainers in this sport with an overwhelming winning record, statistically. One bad year doesnt erase his body of work....get a grip.

Roach is a very good offensive coach, he also spots the habbits of other fighters very well.

Defensively, I've always found him to be lacking.

Oh my, aren't you clever (not). Your theory, such as it is, is that since I am not a professional boxing trainer, I am not qualified to opine that roach is not a good trainer. So using the same logic, you are not qualified to opine on whether roach IS a good trainer, since you also are not a boxing professional. Yawn.

Now listen, Sparky, because we're going to quiz you on this later......if only people who are actually IN the boxing business are allowed to have opinions on whether a particular person is or is not a good boxer/trainer, etc, nobody, INCLUDING YOU, would be allowed to post.

Only the most feeble brained (that would be you) would try to eradicate someone's critique of a boxer or trainer by saying "since you yourself are not a world class boxer/trainer, your opinion doesn't count". I'd have HOPED that anyone with an IQ above 80 would have realized how silly that argument is.......but then........your IQ may indeed not be as high as 80.

Then more power to you, my friend.

As a simple FAN of boxing...albeit a fan with many friends in the boxing business, I can tell you that the people *I* know who are inside boxing, think roach is more hype than substance. Considering how many consecutive losses roach fighters have suffered, it's not hard to see how they have arrived at this considered opinion.

If you wanna slag Roach off then Jr is a bad example to use - he has worked wonders with that kid.

You are more than welcome to offer an opinion, it is a ******ed one, but an opinion nonetheless.

Right, "sparky". I never implied that only people involved in the sport are open to criticising or offering an opinion. But your theory of, 'Roach's boxers keep losing which makes him no boxing god' is a small-minded theory. Apart from the fact you seem to be the only person I have heard call him a boxing god, you are implying that because his boxers are on a losing streak, this means all his other achievements are irrelevant. Which is like I said small-minded.

People are quick to shift blame on to trainers as soon as boxers start losing. But then you look at the boxers.

Khan - flawed boxer, wasn't listening to Roach.
Chavez - limited boxer, wasn't listening to Roach.
Pacquiao - gifted a win against a stylistic nightmare in JMM, then himself is robbed against Bradley.

    So yeah, let's blame Roach.

As for your other comments. I agree, anyone is entitled to an opinion, but some of your points are wrong. I am a boxing coach. I have been boxing all my life. Am I world class in either field? Nope. Have I ever claimed to be? Nope. I don't even bring up that I coach on to this forum in debates, it's pointless. People on here are entitled to there opinion, along with people who are entitled to point out that others opinions are stupid.
