i never once Did say the legs Aren't the most important in boxing.

Fact is arms, lats, shoulders contribute to your punching power so therefore you should not overlook it.

I don't know if I can do it. My friend tells me I'm doing them but I don't think it counts when my abdomen touches the bar after the pull up and then I do the dip. I developed the strenght to go high enough after the pull up but I can't seem to get the momentum going to do the dip in a fluid fashion. So I would say 0 but I stopped practicing a long time ago. Haven't shown any improvement but I can still do it the way I described above whenever I try it.

I'm no expert, but I don't think losing fat would make you lose strenght. You should try pull ups with added weight, make them explosive and always try to pull your self as high as you can. Add enough weight where you can do at least 5 pull up reps, but not more than 8 reps. Rest at least a minute between sets. That should help you out in building the necessary strenght to get to the position of doing the dip after the pull up in the muscle up exercise.

I have a real weak area at the transition point, probably psychological that my wrist is going to slip. There's no reason I should't be able to do them, but after 2-3 really sloppy wild ones I am afraid my wrist is going to snap, and sometimes I can't get up at all, getting "stuck" halfway up. The pull up bar I tried it on rolls a bit, and this scared me. It feels like I'm jumping into them, I don't like it, it's probably cheating.

The iron cross is honestly easier for me than these.

This goes over the ones with the rings, which I think would be easier. For a while I was working with my ex-wife's circus family, and I was learning the strap act. One of the moves is to push up in the muscle up position, but since the straps move from the ceiling it's pretty easy, you move your arms out and then push down with them, but with a bar I can't twist my hands out and feel as if i am going to lose my grip in the transition - I think the bar is much harder because it limits your arm motion.

these muscle ups are agreat excercise to try and get down pat for a boxer. i agree with the original poster, they would be helpful. Yes, powerful legs are the foundation of a fighter but this excercise also seems to build the shoulders and upper back which are also part of the power. Now, to add to it, maybe before doing the pull up you do a leg lift then pull up then dip etc... that way youre seriously working almost every part of your punching body. the core, the shoulders, the upper back, lower back, forearms, wrists.

Nice work out I cant do any at the moment as im out of shape as ****.

I find 26 to be not that impressive of a record. I know gymnasts that specialize on the rings should be able to go further than 26.

if you read on it goes over the bar version too. Its quite a good sight. But in my opinion as impressive as those things are thats the guys "sport" if you like, as he says in his articles it takes months sometimes years to perfect these moves. As a boxer i think theres more important things to work on

my understanding is that on the bar you need to keep your feet a bit in front and do morre of a lat pull down with a little swing

Use the gas make to improve your lung strength and/or capacity. Makes it harder to breathe in them so when you do weights etc... without it's much easier
