How many of Lewis' opponents would you favour to beat Hrgovic?

Ruddock maybe more one dimensional but he has more explosive power than Zhang, and his "Smash" like punch can come from nowhere and is a dangerous punch. I also think Ruddock has better stamina than Zhang who faded badly down the stretch vs Hrgovic, where as Ruddock was still punching hard vs a good version of Tyson down the stretch in their 2nd fight which was alot more brutal than Zhang/Hrgovic.

Also Tua did manage to have some success early on vs Lewis it's just Lewis got his respect and had an ATG jab to keep him at range. I don't think Hrgovic has shown anywhere near that level to suggest he could replicate Lewis's performance.

As for the thread all these fighters would be tough match ups for Hrgovic.

    Gary Mason
    Tony Tucker
    Frank Bruno
    Andrew Golota
    David Tua
    Vitali Klitschko
    Ray Mercer
    Razor Ruddock
    Evander Holyfield

I think even fights vs Rahman, McCall, would be interesting match ups.

I am not at all sold on Hrgovic, whose only good win was an either-way against Zhang. So I would say a lot of them would have a chance. Then again we now know that Zhang is pretty good.

    Definitely...

    Vitali
    Holyfield (even at that age)
    Tua
    Mercer

    Maybe...

    McCall
    Ruddock
    Mason
    Rahmen
    Bruno

I think he would handily beat Golata, Briggs, Grant, shot Tyson, Morrison, and the rest.

Holyfield from the 2nd fight, Vitali Klitschko, Ray Mercer (maybe). The problem with Lewis was that the vast majority of his fights against notable opposition came when they were at the tail end of their careers or compromised with an injury.

I don't think Rahman would. Surely, he had 2 great wins over Lewis and Sanders, but he also had a lot of very underwhelming performances against glass-jawed Oleg Maskaev who KOed him twice, against John Ruiz and against old, badly faded versions of Holyfield and Al Cole.

Briggs - definitely no. The guy got KTFOed by Darroll Wilson and outboxed by Sedrek Fields for Christ's sake while being in his prime. Got beaten by 49 y.o. Foreman and average Botha but was saved by the judges. Got beaten like a drum by Jameel McCline for full 10 rounds. He only had an early success against Lewis because Lennox came into that fight thinking it would be easy walk in park for him after watching how bad Briggs looked against half-century-old Foreman. Once Lewis collected himself fight has become one-sided.

This is a decent era of HW boxing but not as good as 70s or 90s. Hrgovic is being a bit overrated here, like 'confidently' beat these guys really?

Golota would have still beaten Hrgovic IMO. As well as Biggs, Tucker, Bruno, Morrison, Mercer, old Holyfield, Tua, Vitali.

    McCall, Briggs, Rahman close fights.

I didnt think Ruddock was that good, I have no idea why he was a big favourite against Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis in 1992.

Biggs? No way. Not even prime version, let alone the one that faced Lewis. Tucker was too old and got beaten by 5'10" Orlin Norris. Morrison barely got a graw against Purritty and got destroyed in 1 by 10-1 (5 KOs) Bentt. Bruno and Golota had the tools to win but I think both would fade late and get stopped.

Biggs was pretty good in his prime - Olympic gold medalist too, not the best HW by a fair distance though. Gave Riddick Bowe a tough fight, whom Bowe would have absolutely obliterated Hrgovic.

Tucker being beaten by Norris is a strange argument as Tucker was about 7-10 years past his best days, he declined a lot after losing to Lennox Lewis. Tucker was better than Biggs, Tucker was actually a really good fighter who would have boxed Hrgovics head off, you should see Tucker's wins on his record, he even looked quite impressive in his losses against Lewis and Tyson.

Morrison - I could agree with you somewhat. He was inconsistent but I think Morrison would have beaten Hrgovic in his best day.

Bruno - Not the best chin but Bruno had too much for Hrgovic IMO, Bruno was a pretty good boxer and way too physical for Hrgovic.

Golota - Similiar to Morrison but on his best night he would have schooled Hrgovic.

I don't even think Hrgovic would beat AJ. And AJ would have lost to most of those fighters mentioned.
