Tell that to fighters who live in the ghetto, who are minorities, who's families are struggling. Tell that to a black or Mexican or eastern european fighter.

The attitudes some of you have is like you've been coddled your whole life and never had to fight for anything. It's not even just about boxing but for anything. If you wont endure pain how do you get anything out of life?

Even a college degree takes years of pain and if you quit you wont get it.

Even a college degree takes years of pain and if you quit you wont get it. On top of that we got people doing stuff in the real world that is more heroic than any boxer and they don't quit. Do firemen quit their jobs when it's hot outside?

Quitters never win at life without being lucky. Ortiz was lucky to fight Floyd and lucky to be with GBP. He has talent as a boxer but he's not a real fighter. Without boxing he would have never have been successful at anything but we get the feeling he isn't giving boxing his all so of course we are critical.

This guy is not Juan Diaz who went to Law School or Wlad who has a PHD or even Roy Jones or Antonio Tarver who can do movies and music, this guy Ortiz only can do one thing in life and that is box. When boxing is all you've got you should give your all to boxing.

I'm not saying you should die in the ring, but when you step into the ring you know your whole life is at stake every time you do and that it's not a game but a battle of life and death where you or your opponent could die. It's the job of the ref and the ring physician to stop the fight not yours.

Now he will never land a big fight again because he wouldn't fight 3 rounds for his boxing career. He should quit boxing, he will never be an HBO or ShoBox or PPV fighter.

Talk about keyboard warriors. Most if not all of you won't even survive the training let alone break your jaw inside the ****ing ring. :rofl

I've continued fighting with a twice broken orbital bone. I don't know if I would've quit or not because I've never broken my jaw but I know for a fact, I would have TRIED.

That's my point though. Firefighters are fighting every day to save other people's lives. Whose life is a boxer fighting for? They fight for money and personal glory.

I understand a boxer should be aware of the risks and accept them to some degree, but I don't believe the onus should always be on the cornermen or doctor to stop a fight. There's a lot of incompetence in boxing and they aren't going to have to live with a life changing injury if the fight goes on longer than it has to. In practically all cases a world class fighter is the major provider for their family, so I think they have a responsibility to protect their own health for the sake of their family. Fans who want to see a fight go to it's 'natural conclusion' every time might not want to see a guy quit, but your interests aren't the same as the guy in the ring

The sport is to punch the other guy, if someone gets permanently injured from it they cant say anythin they knew the risks before they started competin, cant believe people are defendin boxers quittin when they still standin on their own two feet just because they`d quit in that situation

I went in to a bout a few weeks back with damaged ribs and a sore jaw from sparring. The damaged ribs meant I had limited breathing. Hurt like hell afterwards, today was the first time I've trained.

Can't say what I'd do if I suffered a broken jaw in a bout, you only know if you are put in that situation. Adrenaline only gets you so far.

Damaged ribs and you had trouble breathing? I had two broken ribs and I was fine in terms of breathing, The problem I had was anytime I went to throw a right hand, pushing off the back foot would hurt like a mother ****er my ribs just couldnt deal with throwing that shot.

Getting out of bed was a pain in the ass, and sneezing forget about it but I do not understand why you had trouble breathing with damaged ribs.

most boxers are in the heat of the moment so they'll fight on in victors case he just doesn't have the heart in those situation. don't get me wrong he should be respected just for entering the ring because it takes a lot of courage to do so. a lot of people are tough on the keyboards or on paper and had never even gone through a boxers workout so they shouldn't really talk of such situation

I had all of the above, sneezing still hurts like a *******.

They were damaged at a point close to my sternum. I could breath normally to a point. I couldn't get a deep breath in at all, I just had to make sure my lungs fully expanded whilst I was breathing, so slow inhaling was the way forward. Tired in the bout like.

I would go all 12 rounds while punching myself in the jaw in between rounds... Balls.
