Washington would still be his best win.Washington didn't throw enough punches against Wilder and he threw too many against miller most which were blocked. Miller/Breazeale /Mansaur or Whyte before 2019..these are the guys he needs to fight. He wont fight Ortiz. This version of Washington was also tougher put punches together and had much better angles...Miller has a chin /wilder ???Well Washington didn't hit him with the combos he did to miller.

I also don't agree with the stoppage ..what was that? lol

Love the way Wilder frustrates people. Particularly the ones who pay to watch him lose.

None of them have good momentum, but all have a future in the division.

I really like Duhaupas and Washington, who are the best of his defenses imo and who are both unafraid to fight other contenders. We need alot more of that in this era. The way you get written off after two or even one loss nowadays is one of the worst things about fans, and contributes to the single worst thing about modern hw boxing: that the contenders never fight each other. Washington took a loss but imo that established Miller as a fringe top 10 hw, didn't "expose" Washington except as a fringe top 15 guy, which he already was.

The division needs top 15-40 guys as much as it needs the rest, let's not demean their achievements.

Doesn't mean you can't still point out Wilder has faced by far the lowest quality defenses of any hw champ with 5 defenses, though.

With Aj, DW, wlad, Ortiz, Parker, either fury and some up comers it's really difficult to be considered a threat at hw..

Depends what you mean, every one of them can still make a very good living but winning any title these days will be very difficult. Look at the top dogs, we have maybe 2,3 top future threats coming up now.

Tons of money to be made, but titles are for only the top dogs. Yes, dw top dog in any era, his size, speed and power is way too much for most of the hof atg from yesterday

DW is right now #2 at HW. He's proven more than all except for Aj and wlad. Ok ok maybe he's #3 but I can't see him beating dw, I can't see wlad taking a flush strsight, or windnilled right off DW. He'll land and it's too destructive

Fury dethroned an ATG... Better than anything Wilder has done in his farcical title reign, too bad he screwed it up for himself before being able to defend his titles.

Klitschko. Who's likely getting another multi-million dollar payday and riding off into the sunset. Win or lose.

Povetkin should clearly rank ahead of Wilder.

    Joshua Wlad Povetkin

Then you can shuffle the next tier of Parker, Wilder, Ortiz and Pulev and make arguments for each.

I agree. Duhaupas is a pretty solid guy who was able to come back from the Wilder loss to beat Helenius. He took the fight against Povetkin on short notice and got badly KOed for his trouble. I don't think anyone should hold that against him, and in fact he deserves massive respect for that else we wouldn't have seen a fight that night. He has a future in the division as a gatekeeper, provided he can maintain his punch resistance which, prior to the Povetkin loss, was his biggest asset. I just only hope his chin hasn't been permanently cracked.

Washington could occupy a similar position, but the thing is I really don't think he has the heart to be a professional fighter for too much longer. You can tell he doesn't like to get hit (more so than other fighters I mean) and lacks the grit and punching power to really fight himself out of the trenches if things don't go his way. Miller appeared to really break his spirit, and I'm not sure if we'll see him in the sport within the next couple of years. Plus he's already pretty old at 35. He's not going to get any better at this point.

Problem is that Wilder apologists can just spin it that he 'ruins' everyone and never have to accept these were not worthy challengers to begin with.
