    Modern boxing is okay. Not the greatest era, but still many talented fighters and some great fights.

    I would suggest the OP gives up if he's that disheartened. Typical old-timer harking back.

    Get rid of 105 and 108 would be strong.

    Not Chang-era strong, but stronger.

    This will never happen. The sanctioning bodies replaced the mob, which had the power back in the day when there was one champion per division and only 8 divisions. Sanctioning fees are the life blood of these parasites. There is no turning back, at least not back to the early set up.

    I reckon you're right. I could stretch the point to the a'm, give em a day to rehydrate. That **** about dehydrated guys fighting being bad for you doesn't wash really i don't think. I mean some of these guys are destroying themselves to hit the mark because they have a full day to "recover".

    IMO there's a very clear difference between guys fighting at weights where they are comfy and guys cramming themselves into a given division. Floyd, Golovkin, Ward, Pacquiao, Gonzalez, Marquez, some of the best of the last few years, and it's no coincidence they've spent most of that time "making weight "in divisions that absolutely suit them, or are a little big for them.

    I suggest you watch some you tube if you think the boxing was at a lower standard 20 yrs. ago.

    Yeah, if hydration's the issue, they could look into hydration testing anyway.

    Of course, apart from the fact that it doesn't solve the dehydration problem, it gives rise to the problem that some fighters can manipulate their body weight better than others, making weight difference mismatches more likely (disguised as equal-weight match-ups !)

    Good post. The power setup in boxing is too fragmented. John McCain tried to do something to bring about some sense of order but I guess he didn't get anywhere.

    Too bad NONE of the alphabet organizations have stepped up to right past wrongs. They all need to be s****ped and replaced with something better.

    There's potentially A LOT of money to be made if boxing were run better and marketed well. Yeah, there's a lot of money for the superstars now, but just imagine if boxing were popular enough for fights to again be held in major league ballparks.

    Been fed up with the boxing scene for 30 years now, it just gets worse, and it's hilarious to see the sheep fall for all this Pacquiao Mayweather stuff.
