Do you eat before or after? I don't wanna eat before because I don't wanna run while digesting, but I don't wanna eat after cause I get ****ing hungry wihle I'm running.

I try to eat light before and then a full meal after, is that the right way to go?

    Depends on why you're running.

Eat fast digesting carbs before you run and you will have more energy, perform better, and get more out of the workout.

It's not such a great idea for fat burning purposes though.

eat some thing with a slow release of energy such as porridge, if you run on an empty stomach your body will have no glycogen which is the main fuel source and will use protein stored as muscle to get energy, this will lead to muscle degradation or muscle burning as its also known and will lead to loss of muscle mass which isn't that good, when running on an empty stomach you will hit fat stores more than if you were full of glycogen provided your heart rate is between 128 and 135, id advise to always eat before as your body will firstly get its energy from your muscles and loss of muscle mass everytime you run will obviously not increase performance

Is there any specific reason(s) why some people jog early in the morning? Is it just a mental strength thing or does doing it that early have some sort of other effect?

I run 6 or 7 miles 2 or 3 times a week usually in the afternoons, primarily to improve and maintain stamina as well as getting rid of excess weight.

I do roughly the same, except sometimes a longer one plus I add sprints in. When trying to lose weight more I often did it before breakfast but now it's usually in afternoon if I'm not working, if I am then it's evening so far.

I mix it up. Sometimes after training sometimes in the morning if i have nothing on that morning. If i run in the morning i will have some water and orange juice and then run and eat when i get back.

This is a massive arguement amongst runners for the reasons stated above by people saying about digesting and muscle diteriation.

It is a personal thing, i can quite happily get up at 6 every morning drop my gf to work and be at the park for 6:55 to run for 30-45 mins daily. I personally find that 2 pints of juice and a bottle whilst running is ok for me. IF i feel that im going to be hungry i go for a bannana i read in a interview with one of britains best female runners that bannanas are the best thing to eat on 'short notice'. when i get home shower and immidiatly breakfast.

Have water/a cup of black coffee before

    Protein shake after.

  10. Bananas were/are a good idea. Light and easy on the stomach food with a little bit of sugar in there for the fast release. I get home from work then straight to the gym with an empty stomach, so i usually eat some fruit and I'll also maybe sneak in a couple slices of ham or chicken meat. Just enough to last for 1-2 hrs. Thats just me...

Also running at night suits me better. Only because at the end of a long day I can muster up energy for a run rather than being drowsy all day from early morning cardio.

For some reason cardio in the morning invigorates me for the day, i find im sluggish if i forgo it. And i can never psh myself to get out in the evening. But as i said, and as is the same for every method of training, each to thier own, listen to you body and go with hat works for you

I tried running early in the morning, but it makes you loose muscle mass, after I run for a few weeks like that i start to look sick. I now run and do my sprints in the afternoon/evening time.
when you come back from running eat like a banana or something to get some energy back

Aerobic endurance training should be done after your boxing, speed, strength workouts. If you are doing all those in a day, aerobic endurance should be last. If it were the only thing you would do in a day, afternoon time is best. 12-4 is around the time with the highest testosterone levels and your body is loosest and ready to work. This would be the best time to develop your endurance.

  15. Completely agree despite the majority of boxers running in the morning. You can do anything in the afternoon inckuding hills, swimming, cycling, footy tennid whatever,
