    I am.

He was so fast with his hand speed/combinations along with his movement that Tarver simply couldn't track him down let alone land a flush left hand. That was an incredibly dominant performance by Dawson. The word "outclass" fits in this one.

Also, where would you guys put him on the P4P list? I would put him close to the top 10. I am a full believer now.

Or am i going a bit overboard?

Yup, i'm a convert. i liked his focus and grim determination - i have not seen a look in a boxer's eyes like that in some time.

    Hope he fights Diaconu now...

He really is. Adamek, Harding, Johnson, and now Tarver. And he's only 26. I mean this is his signature win. I can't believe how clearly he dominated Tarver like that. Tarver didn't have a chance. Just way too slow for Dawson.

well i've always new he was legit....but i specifically remember a few clowns on here saying "he's the next jeff lacy"....."overhyped american"...."he'll get exposed"...."he's a knockout waiting to happen", funny how they disappear when the fights over, but before the fight happens they're in full effect

boxing needs a dawson-calzaghe matchup if he beats roy jones. joe should forget about pavlik who has his own business to take care of in arthur abraham. dawson is THE fight to be made.

the question becomes who put on the better performance against tarver - bhop or dawson?

I knew he was talented but like a lot of people, i questioned his chin. And i thought Tarver would put that chin to the test. Turns out, Tarver was just too slow and on a lower class level to even land one flush left. But he still took some decent shots and was never hurt. The guy comes to fight though.

No change in my outlook, I put stock in Dawson years ago. Something that has shown up a bit more recently though is Chad's grit and warrior spirit. He has a beast inside him that's just starting to show itself.

I'm sorry...I have a lot of respect for Dawson after fighting guys like Adamek and Glen Johnson, but I don't think the Tarver fight is any indication of how he would perform against guys like Kessler or Calzaghe. I think the verdict is still out on Dawson until he fights either Kessler or Calzaghe...hopefully we will eventually see those fights!!

I've been here for quite a bit, and Dawson's performance last night was his best yet. No lapses in concentration, although I still believe that Adamek was his finest win.

At any rate, he fired a shot over the bow of Calzaghe, Kessler and Pavlik, and chances are he'll be in position to get a big fight in 2009.

Holding him back most is Gary Shaw. If Dawson were fighting on HBO, he'd already be a star by now. Alas, he's young and has lots of time.

The best aspect of his performance last night was his improved defense. He fought on both ability and intelligence, something that was missing against Johnson.

I also agree with that. Dawson is clearly flawed and vulnerable in some major areas.
