A few Am boxing matches and used to train at a JKD gym where a few guys did pro mma matches, so I sparred mma (kick boxing with takedowns, subs, GNP etc) with them. No matches myself though. I don't think I've ever had the drive needed to get into anything like legit fight shape.

The question for myself is do I compete again when I have completely lost my passion for training in MMA and not fought since last summer?

    :think

I'm not sure really. I had a fight booked a while back and then the guy pulled out and then rebooked to fight someone else. I found out he didn't want to fight me because I beat someone in a minute that he drew with.

Then I wasn't motivated for a while... I went back and it wasn't the same. I was getting punched and kicked and thinking to myself what the **** am I doing?! I have a good job and I'm doing this for fun but I'm not even enjoying it?!

I was sparring at 20% against dudes going 100% with a point to prove so I stopped training MMA altogether about 5 months ago.

I'm enjoying BJJ so much too that I don't know now if I want to go back to MMA. I've been coaching some mates for K1 and MMA but I was in a car accident a few weeks ago and my back and neck have been ****ed since :verysad

I was talking to my mate about it (also an MMA/K1 fighter) and he said to me that if I'm not enjoying it then I should stay away from it and just continue my BJJ.

The thing is though I think to myself I've not got that many years left to compete in MMA but I can do BJJ until I'm an old man... I don't want to have regrets :think

I still love to watch MMA and I try to not miss an event if possible. I try to support my team too and go and watch them at shows.

Maybe I'll find m passion again soon but at the moment it looks as though I may be done...

I also worry about my future too as I would consider myself a fair articulate person but in the last year I have noticed that I'm becoming more and more forgetful. This is more than likely due to my ill spent youth drink from a young age on a daily basis but it still makes me think about the damage that sparring causes over a long period of time.
