If Vitali's corner had not stopped the fight in the 6th?

Nah...Vitali was having his moments, but in honesty, Lennox Lewis was adapting, and he would have probably knocked him out within the next three rounds.

The question is could he have won if he hadn't lost?

I believe so. Lewis had a lucky escape in my opinion. Vitali was close to stopping him numerous times before the cut & could have went on to win no doubt.

not even, not only was he damn near losing his eye, lewis was adapting to his predictable approach. lewis would've battered klitschko even worse if the fight wouldve continued, thank god the ref was looking out for his career and his life. to bad klitschko mania cant be thankful for that either.

I don't know, I think had the fight not been stopped then Lewis would have taken Vitali's eye out.

Maybe but Vitali could have turned it around, this is heavyweight boxing & one punch can end a fight. Vitali was still landing on Lewis up until the 6th. The right decision was made but the question is could he have won if his corner hadn't pulled him out (although I was under the impression that it was the doctor who stopped the fight not his corner) & I believe he could have.

Vitalis Corner did not stop the fight, However Vitali was near ready to go another round or two and Lewis would have stopped him.

Me! I do. Vitali almost had his number that night... It's too bad we never got to see a rematch. Lewis must have known something...

What you all tend to forget is that Vitali was dead tired himself in the last round at the end, Lewis looked more tired cus of the way he slumpped on that stool, but lets also consider Lewis landed about 10 upper cut bombs on Vitalis chin near the end of that round and look who was holding on for dear life.....

Vitali was landing on Lewis yes, but Lennox was taking them pretty well - albeit whilst tired.

Klitschko on the other hand was staggering around like a drunk in that last round, blowing out of his ass.

Lewis TKO 6 Vitali - deal with it :yep

Lewis is one of the best heavyweights of all time, and was one of very few fighters to defeat every man he faced, avenging all his losses by stoppage - and defeated his successor at the top of the division in his prime, in his own last fight before retirement.

Vitali is simply a fringe top 20 heavyweight, ranking alongside the likes of Riddick Bowe.

Let's face it, had the fight not been stopped in the way it was, he would simply have been another decent challenger that had a go before being cut down to size.

He is still living off that fight, even now :yep
