And if you do subscribe, how much are you paying? I had been a member since it first launched but finally decided to cancel recently when it went up to $25 per month. I would be okay paying that if they were consistently putting on top notch cards, but it seems like both the quality and quantity of fights has been on the decline over the past year or so. Plus, if there actually is a big fight on the schedule, they often make it PPV now, which you’re having to pay on top of your subscription. When they first started, one of their main selling points was that we would get PPV quality fights for only a small monthly fee (I think it was like $5 a month when I first signed up). I may still sign back up from time to time if there is a fight I really want to see, but I’ll cancel immediately so that I’m only paying for that one month. Anyway, I was just curious how many people are still subscribed and if you all think they are going to make it long-term. I personally feel like they won’t be around in a few years (but I admit that I only watch it for boxing, so I’m not really sure how much demand there is for the other sports they broadcast).
I have a pirated subscription. Never watch it. Thousands of tv channels paying what 110$ per year. I did watch it once or twice for some fights. This probably doesn't count.
In the US you guys are getting Joshua vs Whyte II for free. Jesse Rodriguez vs Sunny Edwards has been announced for December. Apparently Haney vs Prograis will be done within the next week too. Not sure if those in the US are interested in Cordina vs Barrett and Cameron vs Taylor II. Maybe Munguia vs Berlanga will get made. Opetaia vs Riakporhe and Romero vs Davies could be added depending on the purse bids. What other content do you get in the US? It may be worth only subscribing for certain months.
I've been a subscriber from the beginning. The recent price increase was annoying, but I want to support boxing and over the course of the year I'd say it's worth it.
I think we get the same content in the US, but as you mentioned, certain fights are PPV in the UK but free in the U.S. (and I use the term “free” loosely here since you’re still paying the monthly subscription), while other fights are PPV in the US but free in the UK. I’ll probably sign up for a month for the AJ vs Whyte fight, and I likely would for Haney vs Prograis too if the fight gets made. I just found that when I was paying $25 per month throughout the whole year, there would be entire months where I wouldn’t watch it a single time. There are a lot of UK level cards on there (and that’s no knock on UK fighters), but I’m just not as familiar with the fighters who aren’t really on the elite / world level. I’d probably be more likely to keep a year round subscription if I was in the UK (or if I had enough discretionary income to where $25 a month was virtually nothing for me). I have become a Sunny Edwards fan from watching him on DAZN recently though…so it is a good service for discovering and watching non-US fighters that I’d probably not be very familiar with otherwise.
I subscribe and will continue to do so. Despite it being an Eddie Hearn and Canelo ass kissing machine I believe it to be very good value.
They're scum. I'd subscribe for £7.99/m just to watch the big fights I'd want, then usually cancel within the month. Somehow I missed the part where prices shot up to £20/m, and I assumed that £9.99 was just the standard subscription but with a slightly bumped up price, not realising that that price now locks you in for a year. I thought that was extremely sneaky, kinda relying on old subscribers to simply go for the option that they're used to going for, then locking them in for a year. When I called them to let them know my mistake and ask if I could cancel, they were totally dismissive and saying FU, basically. I've now blocked payments going to DAZN with my bank, so F them and I'm never paying for it again (every email I get from them asking me to change payment method so I can keep paying fills me with joy).
A channel ran by scumbags who put on very few quality fights, and when they do the production quality is awful. Then on top of your subscription fee that they make you pay for PPV. I subscribed a few times for big fights in the early days but they won't ever get another penny out of me.
I’ve had it for awhile now and do the yearly subscription. Will cancel it this fall on principle. The price hike as well as shoving women boxing down our throat.
Not me. I want to watch that DLH-Chavez documentary and it's been saying 'COMING SOON' and it's been over a damn year. Had to unsub for sure. Plus the went up another $5. Thanks Canelo.
Seems like jacking up the price when the demand is cratering is a bad idea for the long term health of the sport
