How many of you think Overeem is now the best HW on the planet?

You really think Werdum is the best heavy in the world? You dont think theres quite a few in the top 10 who would beat him?

Hell.. don't you think Fedor would beat him like 8/10 times? He rushed in and got caught. I guarantee it doesn't happen again.

 

I could go into his entire career and stats, but quite simply as of 2010 he has one legitimate loss in his entire career - more importantly I would have to say he is simply the most advanced and technically complete mma HW fighter ever - its that simple and at the end of the day we have both seen him fight as much as you would like to suggest other fighters are equal - they simply have not shown the consistency, complete skill set and mental toughness that Fedor has shown - that is why I think its pretty simple to still rank him #1.

 

I think Fedor would beat him in a rematch. I think a few guys could beat him. But in rankings terms, Werdum is top dog imo until he is beaten. Like I said the man who beat the man.

 

Personally, when I throw Overeem and Barnett in the mix it's going 100% by my subjective opinion of H2H. :good

In terms of resume, Fedor has been the man for a long time and Fabricio is the man who just beat (and became) the man. The victory over Alistair is pretty sexy, too. Then again...Dos Santos has that win over him...along with a couple of other nice names. So maybe he shouldn't be omitted either. And we could just be seeing the start of the Cain Velasquez story.

It's just I'm tired to hear about the AA and Roger fight...

I'm always amazed by how ****in fast those 2 knockout punch were thrown....

I'm watching the AA VS Fedor fight right now and AA is KTFO at the begining of the flying knee, maybe he is a lottle slower but not by very much !

Same for the Roger KTFO...I can't even believe how ****in fast that happened...

Maybe not alone on top, but at least same spot with the best...until he lose again, then Yes, he is no longer on top. But I really don't think 1 loss in 10 years is enough to leave the number 1 spot.

in fact the only problem I had with your post were the word : Struggle(about AA) and a real pain(about Roger) I really don't agree with those...

The proof is in the pudding. I wouldn't drink too deep from the koolaid when Werdum already beat him once. Alistair has improved as a kickboxer and overall MMA fighter but even if he spent every day training his jiujitsu instead - he would still be light years behind Werdum and be submitted again. Every time. Feel free to pop up for an avatar bet if the fight ever comes to fruition.:deal

I agree, Fedor's maybe lost a small amount of speed from his peak Pride years but he's hardly slow. I'd also argue that his boxing have improved in recent years, he's finding his opponants chins much more often than he used to in Pride when he biltzed many of them.

Personally I think that if anything he's become too aggresive recently, he seems intent on KOing everyone he faces ASAP and I think that led to the mistake vs Werdum. When afterall was the last time Fedor faced a serious sub threat? Hunt went for one but was never going to get it, really you need to go all the way back to Nog in 2004.

 

Yeah personnaly that's what I think.
He seems to have more respect for the K.O. power then for the subb since he is so experienced on the groud with is judo and sambo background.

That why he took his time with Roger...and with Werdum he just exploded.
I don't think he will do the same mistake twice though...

 

As far as Werdum goes one thing that seems to be consistantly underestimated is just what a tough ******* he is. Theres all the focus on the KO vs JDS but really that shot would have floored just about anyone. Besides that he's taken serious beatings a number of times and always kept his cool, never been finished by anyone else.
