I just can't get in to it. I know it's pretty exciting, has a lot of knockouts etc but it just doesn't bring the same feeling as boxing does to me and I know it never will. I'm curious....
I enjoy MMA. I always was a fan of MMA strikers, Igor Vovchanchyn, Fedor Emelianenko, Mirko Cro Cop, Stipe Miocic, Dos Santos, Sergei Kharitonov, Wanderlei Silva, Rampage, Liddell etc etc. It was not till recently that I started to enjoy the grappling aspect of it, with Chris Weidman being my favorite grappler.
I watch it, but it is hit and miss just like boxing is. You have plenty of snoozers and uneventful fights, while also having some good s****s or fight of the year type blood baths.
I enjoy any combat sports...its all fighting. I only played fighting video games as a kid so two ppl testing each others will to win always entertains me...
when my son was younger I had to pay for and watch wwf . the hole hulk hogan thing. Nothing I could tell him to convince it was not real. I am not obligated to watch anymore junk (mma) hell i would rather watch endless refunds of Kung Fu Hustle.
I enjoy mma but on my terms, that being if I am not into the fight I want to fast forward it to the next fight, thus I wont watch it live unless its free and even then I may turn it off if its a match up I am not really into.
Used to watch some K1 and PRIDE (not religously but on and off) when I was really young, watched a couple of UFC matches but that's about it. I don't really like UFC, I liked Pride but UFC to me is just too trashy and "Americanized", the Japanese had the right formula with MMA.
This is the greatest NHB of all time so I am told. Tyson Fury would smash this fool. [yt]Vaw8t-wOMEA[/yt]
The way the disciplines are matched up and the way the sport has evolved since UFC I in the early nineties makes it the best new sport on the planet. These fighters make NFL playas look like choir boys off the field though...
Ever since UFC has gone to rounds and away from the tournament style martial Arts matches, the sport has blown up. Great fighters have emerged with a mastery and mixing of styles that's unprecedented. It's the best new sport in the last 50 years.....
It's great fun watching guys who can box & kickbox with muay Thai skills vs a guy who comes from Jiu Jitsu & Greco Roman disciplines. It makes for great match ups on Saturday nights...
MMA is pretty damn good! I especially LOVED the old, old school fights that happened when nobody much cared about weight classes or knew much about which styles were best. Igor Vovchanchyn was my favourite, short, stocky guy who could probably have made LHW, who went in and BLASTED giants weighing 250-300lbs. Fun times. Although Igor can't make a fist nowadays I hear, he did so much damage to his hands.
