Mike could get off 3 punches in the time it'd take most HWs to get off one. The young Mike would land a couple shots on a guy already on the way down from the first hit. So it'd probably not be recorded as a one shot KO when in practicality it was.
Yep, it is that little bit more difficult to find examples of fighters who haven’t necessarily been hurt in some way shape or form before they’re levelled by a single and most self defining punch. Thunder vs Crawford technically fits like a glove. Fresh out of the gates, first punch, good night Sweet Prince. Not a one punch KO per se, but I remember when Mike landed that HUGE right hand on Holmes’ left temple (leaving a dent, no less). I thought that the fight was basically over right then and there. Larry never found his head or legs after that shot. Carl Williams was strange. I think the left hook KD simply took all the fight out of him even though he still could’ve fought on in all potential. One thing, Mike’s single punch power has been somewhat underrated in more recent times - remember how his punches didn’t sound like anyone else’s? - tremendous snap, punches sounding like a gun shots…..
