It's the same story as Hopkins-Calzaghe: US fans just can't pack a big US arena, to fill one, UK fans are desperately needed... But why should 10.000 travel to the US to turn Vegas into Newbridge of Manchester if they can pack a stadium of 50.000 or 70.000 at home?

Simple logic tells: 70.000 > 10.000, 7 times more money...

I know Pavlik is one of those who does have a relatively large hardcore fan base, Youngstown is very supportive... but we're not speaking about 50.000 paying fans...

What I like to know is how strong is Pavlik's support any how many of his fans would travel to the UK to support their man vs. Calzaghe if the fight will be held there?

I believe Europeans on the average get a lot more "sick days" at their places of work than do Americans. I don't know exact numbers but there is a disparity. Add to that the fact that a lot of the Pavlik hardcore fans (ie:Youngstown folks) come from a place whose economy is down for the count, and you can see why they can't afford to travel even inside the U.S. to places such as Las Vegas or Atlantic City. If they were to hold a boxing event in Youngstown or Cleveland I think the Ohioan middle class who make up a lot of Pavlik's fanbase would fill the stadium no problem.

Pavlik's fans would require the concept of a passport be explained to them.

It's actually the state of our economy due to our evil dictator that's holding us hostage that would prevent us Pavlik fans from traveling overseas to watch him fight.

Well, if the fight is made in Cardiff, you should make the effort and head over. It's not a bad city, despite the amount of Welsh people there.

calzaghe would fight in madison square garden for his last fight as it is one of his ambitions.
i think he will fight rjj in cardiff then he may be persuaded into a pavlik fight at m s g due to this ambition.
