How many pay per view buys would a Ward-Golovkin fight generate?

    The problem is Ward is battle tested and nobody knows GG.

    :lol::lol: Pretty much, good PPV takes two to tango, Ward brings nothing to the table, him v GGG or Kovalev would do sub 200k buys.

    Yeah. GG's ppv was a ****en bust. He has no audience that will pay to see him fight. He's a TV guy. Ward Kov with a good undercard would do more than 130k.

    You're not wrong, but Lemieux isn't exactly the best litmus test of someone's long-term viability on PPV. Not long ago he wasn't even top 15 @ MW.

    Lemiuex fight was more entertaining.... Only for casuals. 2 supremely talented fighters who have been bantering back and forth for a couple years. 2 of the top 5 P4P fighters today. It' actually one of the best fights that can be made right now.

    Not many. While fights fans know the magnitude of this kind of fight, the casuals have no idea who Golovkin or Ward are. It would be lucky to hit 200k, if that.

    With the type of money hbo would put behind in marketing anywhere between 650k-500k

    I'm thinking 200k. Could still be a successful event. You don't need 800k to make money. Question is how much cash does Ward expect? He gets millions from Rocnation to fight nobodies..

    This fight would do poorly because;

    1. Golovkin has no star power. None.

    2. Golovkin has no big wins, thus no real rep.

    3. Golovkin is a dud and don't belong in the same ring with a fighter of Ward's elite status.

    4. Golovkin has zero crossover appeal. The audience at his last fight looked like a Gallagher concert. I.E., a sea of marshmallows like Klitscho's Germany fights.

    Translation:
    Yes, I'm a troll and cannot refute GiGi's weak ass PPV performance, the fact that he has not fought anyone, or the fact that he isn't qualified to carry Ward's jock strap. So instead I'll act like a Marshmallow and pretend I know something.
