How many people would like to see Khan...

Im split. I like to hear the general public talking about boxing and the only time boxing is really being discussed is when a Ricky Hatton, Joe Calzaghe or Amir Khan fight is coming up...So you would think it would be good for boxing in this country if Khan does well, on the other hand, I do think he is being overrated, im dont like the way he comes across in interviews, do see limitations in his ability and know for a fact that Khan-Kindelan 3 was a farce. Also he has now ducked ut of a fight for the ritish title against the next viable oponent.

There was no reason to dodge a man like Jono Thaxton if you really are legitmately World class. Surely if he is going to be World champion he would dismiss of such a challenge quite comfortably. It would have also won him a prestigous title.

Excactly the UK is the most inter racial country in Europe, you dont need to be white to have a fan following, Naz, Benn, Eubank, Lewis, Bruno, Haye.

Khan is one of the most popular boxers in Britain at the moment.

ITV's coverage is totally bias and one sided, Barry McGuigan I would hope would mention his chin but it doesn't happen, at the end of they day its all down the the money isn't it.

I don't agree with your opinion that Khan should have stayed amateur and gone to the next Olympics. Firstly he could have got injured a week before the Olympics and would have wasted 4 years. 2nd he beat Kindalin who wa the number 1 fighter in his amateur division so he had nothing else to proove.

Warren moving to ITV has also done alot for boxing. Calzaghe has certainly capitalised on the deal he had for 2 years, others unfortunatley did not.

Your right about people being Amir fans and not boxing fans, and some of them do support him because he is Muslim and Aisan, like they are. But if even 5% of these guys remain boxing fans and start supporting other fighters thats a good thing for boxing. Perhaps some of them would be supporting Kevin Mitchell this weekend if they wernt racially abused by all of Kevins fans in July at the 02.

900,000 orderd Hatton vs Mayweather and they all bought into the hype that Hatton was going to win, even genuine life long boxing fans on here bought into that. if some of those 900000 stay boxing fans and start to follow other fighters, the hype was well worth it.

Boxing is becoming a mainstream sport again in the country and that is partly down to Warren, ITV and Khan no matter how bias there coverage is. They are also paticuarly bias towards English football teams in the CL and Hamilton in F1!


Oh the arguement about Khan getting more press and more money should be scrapped because if somebody offerd me to do the exact same job I do now for £2mil a year instead of £40,000 i would not turn it down.

 

There is a difference between Benn, Eubank, Lewis, Bruno and Haye to Khan.

You can be racist to one paticualr race. I think you will find there are many people that get along fine with Black people but don't like aisans. At the 02 in July and in October in Nottingham people were calling khan and his fans a "paki" and a "terrorist" but when black fighters were fighting they did not say anything.


I do not think that race is a problem on this forum (there are a few occasions) , but alot of public do have a problem with Khan because he is muslim and aisan.

You chose to ignore Naz. Hamed was one of the most popular boxers in Britain, he sold out across the country including in very very white cities like Newcastle and had a massive white, working class following and took plenty of fans to Vegas too.
