How many PPV buys will Hopkins/Dawson do?

    Lots of factors going against this fight: Essentially no promotion, two guys not known for power, lots of other PPVs this fall, etc.

    So, what's the realistic expectation?

    Hovering around the 100k mark is my guess. That's about the break even point for this fight.

    There's some decent fights on it but no co-feature bout that'll add many buys that I can see.

    Hopkins name alone will bring 100-200k. Dawson doesn't have a large fan base, there is no big name on the undercard, and it's just not an enticing card, so I don't think any more will buy it.

    This has HBO/Showtime fight written all over it but it's on PPV.

    The fact that Mayweather just fought and Pacquiao fights next month has to affect this PPV. But I still think it's going to do surprisingly well. I say 300K+.

    I'm going 150k. There's too much competition in the sports marketplace right now with football and playoff baseball along with too many other PPVs this fall. And the promotion was non-existent.
