I've seen a few people justify Margarito getting a Pacquiao fight based on his popularity. Anybody have these numbers?

emmanuel did 700K by himself and 1.25mil with Cotto. We know emmanuel brought in 700K out of the 1.25mil. That means Cotto brought in 550K.

Basically, marg is a no draw.

$14k and his fans are proud of it like they were about the Manuel Gomez extravaganza. Margarito can't draw ****, this has been known for a long time. The only reason his PPV with Cotto did good is because of Cotto. Soon his PPV with Pacquiao will also do good because of Pacquiao.

good question. margo on his own can't sell a ppv. BUT there's value in being an opponent. he's known for the handwrap and people will tune in to see him get brutalized. much like holyfield, pac needs an opponent to sell his ppvs. cotto was an opponent, clottey was an opponent, margo is an opponent. these aren't headliners but people will pay to see them put up a fight or get beat up

His Latin Fury PPV flopped, but Mexicans will come out of the woodwork to support their man in a big fight. For better or for worse, Mexicans always support their own even if he is a cheater.

I bet it was Mosley who sold out The Staples Center against Margarito right?

Margarito has Mexican fans. That's why the Staples Center was sold out when he fought Mosley. About 90% of them were there for Margarito. He's not a huge draw but he is a person who attracts a lot of Mexican fans to his fights.

Who cares about figures (apart from Floyds thick as **** followers) it's a good match up of styles.
