according to arum, cotto mosley did 400k. that 340k floating around came out of the mouth of leonard the leech when trying to make another sorry justification as to why pbf did not need tofight cotto
I think it will do around 350-400k. It doesn't have a good undercard so that is going to hurt the numbers.
Bob Arum also said that Floyd was the greatest skilled boxer he's ever laid eyes on. He also said that Floyd Mayweather is a coward and a businessman (like thats a bad thing). So you can't rely on what he says. Dan Raphael is a pretty reliable source in boxing and according to him it was 350K If it does Cotto-[Shane] Mosley numbers [about 350,000 buys] then we're another place. http://sports.espin.go.com/sports/boxing/notebook?page=notebook/boxingjune27 (I put an "I" in espn so the link would show up but you can take the "I" out and go to the actual story).
375k is my official guess. As boxing fans we think it will be much higher because it should be a very exciting fight, but neither guy is a household name to non-boxing fans (YET anyways). Its a shame too......all my buddies wanted to order RJJr/Tito really badly, and now its like pulling teeth to get them in for this great showdown. Annoying!!!!!!!!
I agree to one thing. The promotion has been very poor considering how important is this fight. And Mayweather still complaint about racism. If Cotto or Margo were born in any of the 50 states promotion would be a lot better
If this fight does over 350k buys and Cotto wins in impressive fashion there's no question to him fighting DLH and him some how luring PBF out of retirement. If the fight does 400-500k then its a done deal and Cotto would have done what PBF didn't expect.
