If the fight does come off this September.:think

Edit: Messed up on the poll the first option should be < 800,000

nobody knows who ortiz is so i doubt it'll be any more then the marquez fight. With enough hype I could see it getting around a mill.

Ortiz is one of the bigger names in the sport....probably top 7. With all the build up as the fight gets closer. Everybody will get jazzed up seeing Mayweather again, and Ortiz, big dude, young, powerful, Mexican-American....on the weekend of Mexican Independence day. I think this gets a lot of buys. Plus, people know who Ortiz is, he's been given a lot of hype and the exciting fight with Berto upped his stock. I think this fight gets around 1-1.2 mil...if not I think it's a big disappointment for Golden Boy and everybody involved.

Still messed up. I think you mean "< 800,000" (less than 800,000).

Yeah he isn't close to a big name. Hardcore boxing fans know who he is, but casual fans don't.

I had it right the first time on the poll but had to go back and redo it because I forgot to add a title

Who would be bigger than Ortiz? Obviously, Mayweather and Pacquiao, but who else? I know he isn't a superstar or anything like that, but when you look at the poor landscape of the U.S. he is one of the bigger names.

    Hopkins
    Ward
    Pacquiao
    Gamboa
    Mayweather
    Khan
    JML
    Cotto
    Martinez

are all bigger payday fighters than Ortiz. I can perhaps name 10 more.

Before Berto, Ortiz was barely good enough to be on GBP undercards. Berto isnt that big a name himself (would you consider him top 7 before Ortiz?) but now Ortiz beats him and he has become a top 10 big money fight?

He barely got 400,000 K to fight Berto. Hardly a payday fighter.

Again, I'm speaking from a U.S. perspective. Lopez, Gamboa, Martinez, Khan are definitely not bigger than Ortiz in the U.S. Hopkins, sure why not he's a fossil...then again he can't sell out a homecoming fight in his hometown of Philly. Ward would be in the same boat as Ortiz, may'be he would be a bit bigger, but not by much. Cotto, again, may'be he has a big fan base in New York. And then I already said Pacquiao and Mayweather, of course they are bigger.

U.S. is a poor landscape. And no, of course, Berto isn't a big name, 911 people showed up (when he fought Quintana) in a 20,000 seating arena....and most of them got in for free.

edit: And I'm not talking about popularity=money, I'm just talking if you went up and asked somebody and asked them, "Do you know who Victor Ortiz is?" Berto got 1.2 million vs Freddy Hernandez, that doesn't mean he's popular. It just means he got a payday he didn't deserve.

    Less than Pac-Mosley.

I know alot of Latino casual fans that dont know who Victor Ortiz is.

Imo it will do around 700-800K.
