I guess you missed the part where I actually agree with what you said, and said he was the best heavyweight today. Not the point.

retiring lewis destroyed prime vitali, of this there is no question nor has there ever been.
question is why was lewis still hanging around at 37 when every hw champ in history before him was retiring or had retired at the same age as him.

He certainly did not destroy him. He beat him, decisively by stoppage.

But if he had destroyed him, that would have been the last we would have seen of Vitali.

As it turns out, Vitali was around for another decade, had another dozen WBC heavyweight title fights, some of them after a long lay-off and surgery, and won them all, most by KO.

It was Lennox's best win in that he beat his immediate successor in the top dog department.

The p4p list provides a snapshot of the 'greatness' ranking of the active fighters at a given point in time.

It will always be problematic as there is considerable subjectivity in what constitutes 'greatness' as well as how recent of a time span the p4p list should consider.

Those who try to measure greatness usually look at some combination of accomplishment (wins, losses, quality of the opponents beaten or lost to, etc) and the eye-test (how does the fighter look, how does his skill-set measure up).

The degree of emphasis put on these two dimensions varies, but I would say the majority of those who come up with such lists put a great deal more emphasis on accomplishment than how the fighters looked.

And so, for many lists, the overall body of work ( within some recent timeframe) determines the placement.

Let me explain the golden rule of holes to you.

When you are in one, stop digging. Having written " Lewis got the result but didn't win the fight," you don't keep digging deeper with garbage like the above. Just accept Lewis TKO 6 like the rest of the planet, and don't quote the nonsense fighters SAY as though their utterances are scientific fact.

Rematch, no rematch, retirement at 38 years old, what the fvck does it matter, other than to insignificant fans like yourself? If and when you accomplish earnings of over $100 million like Lewis has, then you can decide as and when it is time to retire.

yeah I am not sure wlad can beat his own family, we shouldn't be arguing over past atgs on the world scene.

his best bet is against weak titlists, rather than atg champs.

To be honest, I would be very surprised if he could win a clean boxing match over even a weak titlist. :verysad

Exactly. He's very robotic, cuts easily, and is too stiff and straight up. Wlad is not athletic. He would not be able to play American football, where all the best heavyweight athletes in the world are. But don't get me wrong, I respect Wladimir for staying in shape and being consistent and doing what he has to do against guys he should be doing it against. Consistency. Respect. Robotic. American Football.

Rematch or no rematch, Lewis curred out and hid away because he knew Vitali had the beating of him, but that doesn't bother an insignificant fan like yourself.

He's here Carol Voderman, if your fight arranging was as good as your grammar you'd be a rival to Don King, sadly though you are a buffoon!!
