It's a tight one. My opinions on Sanchez absolutely mirror yours so closely it's uncanny.

I watched Sanchez vs Laporte last night

I am blown away by how calm cool collected he is at just 21. He was such a smart fighter, never panicked, always knew where he was, always knew how to get himself into trouble, could slide in and out of range with ease, could make the other fighter miss by an inch and counter...and that chin..he had a cast iron jaw..he really did.

Just such a confident fighter..so athletic. So smooth

That's him to a tee, no-one was ever more relaxed.

Yeah, I probably overrated him a little bit...but who cares. It’s my opinion. I see something really special in the guy lol. Sounds like others rate him highly as well

Ya, John. The only other fella that comes to mind that was so relaxed is Escopeta.

And they should. The amount of work he got done during that reign was pretty phenomenal. I think a couple of guys would have given him fits due to styles, but there are many reasons to rate Chava quite highly based on what he did and who he defeated during that reign.

If we all thought the same no-one would ever learn anything.

Sanchez was relaxed and like Carlos Monzon sometimes only put out what was needed, but when he fought the undefeated Wilfredo Gomez I saw his greatness. The better fighters brought out the fire in him. Danny Lopez was a beast. He beat a young Juan La Porte. Ruben Castillo was 47-1-0 & a young Azumah Nelson TKO 15 Sanchez did not always look spectacular but there was a lot more in him and it came out when needed. 10 defenses & he died at 23 so we will never know how much more he would have done.
