So his "offical" record is 3 fights, but when he fought Salido they were saying he fought in WSB tournament before that and they were labeled as professional fights and so he really has 9 fights now. Which is is?
All depends if you count the wsb fights or not, no one counts them now except for fight fax and some I think a few commissions in America
So in that case his record will be shown different depending on if he is fighting for different belts? That would be crazy. I wonder how Buffer or Lennon Jr. would decide to announce his record in that case.
And his were not I take it? I was never aware of the WSB until he fought Salido, so I know nothing about it.
WSB shouldn't be considered pro IMO unless you are also having the "white collar"/"semi pro" bouts counting as professional contests.
No. Though it appears the only people to try and recognise them as such is a US organisation. The WSB fights would actually have been illegal if held on US soil - and would be no more 'Pro' fights than if you'd paid a coupla mates $20 each to fight in your back yard ring. I dug up the appropriate legal references in a thread a few months back but now have to go and deal with my overactive son who shoulda been asleep an hour ago.
True I'd say someone within the major organisations used there influence to try to get them recognised as pro bouts
WSB is the amateur tournament. just 2 more rounds and that's all. FYI, amateur boxing's already removed headgear and uses the 10-point scoring.
