I'll put a video of some of my training up sometime. I'm only 15 but I work hard, am very competitive and enjoy training. I had this thing for a while with a mate who was obsessed with strength/weights etc and we worked for ages on one handed press-ups, first he maxed out at 14, and me 20, then we worked out war up to about 40, then he came to school one day claiming he'd done 50. I worked and worked for a few weeks and eventually maxed at 72 after a couple of rest days (form was probably poor - not all the way down to ground but about 75%and legs were spread apart.) That is by far my best achivement of training yet.
Still impressive. I wonder if a few people are kipping and still counting it as a strict form pullup?
You guys with the high numbers, how often do you do pullups? I weigh about 180lb and struggle to do 10 pullups, no problem admitting that. I find it funny how everybody finds pullups difficult except boxers, amazing how many they can do without really training them, amazing :think
I got to 20 once but kept doing them a lot and was losing weight at this time too now I am lucky to to 10 I can knock out 20 with the hands the other way though By the way they are most certainly easier for small guys , one of my buddies about 8 stone who never works out did 30 no problem then a full 360 around the bar at the end LOL
I have improved upon my initial 15 pullups. I was able to do 30 during the summer but have put on some extra weight and can only manage 22 now.
When I dedicated myself to increasing my pullup numbers I managed to knock out 20 with good form, pushing it to 25 when my form started to slip. I haven't trained them for a while now and I struggle making it to 10 while still maintaining form. And I really want to meet the 7 guys that can do 40+ strict form pullups, they must have lats like a ****ing gibbon.
Normally I don't care about much of anything, but I see red when I hear people talk about crossfit. Please know that I mean no offense nor am I trying to sound haughty at all Virus or anyone else that has some appreciation for crossfit. However, one day I will wax poetic on this board about this absolutely horrible program and programming(or lack thereof) known as crossfit:fire. They are so off base with a lot of their principles it is not even funny. They promote "cross"fit as being cross-trained across various skill sets and energy systems, but develop workouts that are so friggin counterproductive from day to day that it is mind boggling how anybody with half a working knowledge of exercise would buy into it. I will at some point back this up on the board further with research, my own understanding of the human bodies ability to adapt to training stress, programming, etc. As for now, I'm too tired so thank you for tolerating this internet rant. Know that crossfit has no scientific merit whatsoever. And since when has training consistently till you puked day in and day out been the standard for what a workout should be? I have no problem with anyone making a buck, but don't promote this garbage as if putting these random exercises together to make a workout is going to build an elite athlete.
Yep, again if any of them had half a clue how off base they are, they would burn there Crossfit "Forging Elite Fitness" shirts.
I just made up a crossfit workout. 3 rounds for time: Must have multiple tattoos, board shorts, no shirt shoes to do. 10 handstands(hold each 3 seconds) 5 suitcase deadlifts each way Egg rolls 50 yds Spin around 20 times counter clockwise frog jumps(jacknifes while in the air) 10 Tomorrow we will max out on squats then on Wednesday run with an 80 lb vest for 50 miles. There is a 1/2 week of crossfit programming for you. You're welcome guys.
The most I've ever done was 26 back when I was working out consistently, eating right, and in the best shape of my life about a year ago. I'm sure I could still do about 20, though. Edit: Admittedly those were achieved while pumping them out at a fast pace. Doing the stricter pull-ups, I've gotten between 15-20, though I can't recall exactly.
