How many rounds Andre Dirrell needs to win to get the decision? (3 Michigan judges)

I wouldn't worry about the judges. Just watch Dirrell/Hanshaw or Dirrell/Froch, and watch young Andre try to clinch.

 

To judge or referee in any state, a judge or referee must be licensed in the state where the fight is taking place. As far as I know, there aren't a lot of qualifications to do so, but most people only get licensed in a limited number of states because when you get the call to judge or referee a fight, you need to go there to do it. It's why you'll never see Steve Smoger referee a fight in Vegas and Gale Van Hoy will only get a judging job in Texas.

It's hard for me to envision a scenario where the judges rob Abraham anyway. Either Abraham will get the KO, Abraham will completely dominate Dirrell, or Dirrell will dominate Abraham. This isn't a style clash that will lead to a close fight. I can see the referee playing a role though. Local guy is probably more likely to let Dirrell get away with some of his less savory tactics.

 

Has ANYONE ever been able to clinch on Abraham? I can't remember it. The way he keeps his guard up makes it near impossible to clinch, and when someone gets inside, he pushes away with his forearms rather than clinching.

If Dirrell gets caught with a big one, it's game over for him whether or not his parents are the judges and his trainer is the referee. I can see him fighting like he did against Stevens again though and really stinking up the joint en route to a wide decision. I favor Abraham, but Dirrell has a better shot than some are giving him credit for.

 

Just making the final bell will be enough.

 

Always find it humorous when it gets suggested there will be hometown bias in favor of a Black American.

 

I thought dirrell was a victim of crappy judging and refereeing in england against froch, heck I had taylor winning the abraham fight if he didnt get knocked out anyway we should have international judges for this
