In a perfect world yes, if Golovkin is better it will show, however, Dave Moretti is one of the judges for Canelo/Golovkin and felt comfortable giving Canelo 4 rounds in a fight that was damn near a shutout for Floyd.
The opportunity for shenanigans is still there.

 

I have serious doubts he'd get the decision even if he won EVERY round.

 

Haha, I'm not too concerned; I think he stops Canelo personally. He has had stamina issues in the past and all tht extra muscle is going to put a strain on his body. Plus what's the closest he has come to being hit this hard? Maybe Cotto or Angulo? It's a new world for him.

 

Since you already explained to us that it doesn't matter because Canelo is the cash cow and won't be allowed to lose in that way, what's the point?

 

If rounds are remotely close they will go to Canelo (Ward Kovalev 1) so the question is how many rounds does Triple G dominate.
Enough to earn a stoppage imo.

Boxers prepare for the level of power they expect to experience via sparring. Boxers who move up to HW spar with HWs.

 

Sparring can't always fully prepare you, otherwise literally no one would be surprised by another fighter's power. And even then you can't necessarily handle it.

Not saying it's a guaranteed solution. Just saying that they do try to prepare in order to reduce the chances of being totally surprised by an opponent's speed, agility, boxing style or power. So achieving a total surprise isn't as easy as it might at first appear.

 

If there's no knockdowns he needs to win 7 rounds.

Unless there's a clash of heads and it gets called off early. In which case he needs to win anywhere between 3 and 7.

 

If the fight is fixed then why pay to see it?
