    What?

Most of the rounds were free sparring, but some were task-based. But all the rounds were pretty hard anyways. Sorry if I caused a big confusion. If you don't believe me, then fine.

    Wednesday:
    Morning: 14 rounds
    Evening: 8 rounds

    Thursday:
    Morning: 14 rounds
    Evening: 6 rounds

    Friday:
    Morning: 10 rounds

"Free sparring"? What does that mean? I guess it means shadowboxing cause thats the only way that routine is plausible. Sorry, don't buy it. 54 rounds of sparring in 3 days, you gotta be kidding me.

I don't believe you. Because its bull****. Muhammad Ali never even did such a ludicrous routine. You are either the next champion of the world or from a planet of super-beings.

14 rounds straight in the morning then 8 round straight that same night . Boy you must not tire or get hurt either.

If your training 5-6 days a week you would do better to spar 2-3 times

    Monday, Wednesday, Friday sparring

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday Skills & Fitness

If you're a senior boxer you could do 4 x 2 minute rounds each session.

Your mostly going to box 3 x 2 minute rounds until it changes to 3 minute rounds so 3 work filled rounds is more realistic than 6 rounds.

Also when your sparring you should be practicing things and filling your boxing toobox and not just throwing leather for the sake of it:

Monday, Wednesday practice new defences and counters etc

Friday try it out with 3 or 4 good rounds

    Regards BH

The gym I go to only spars every other saturday, which is a pain in the ass...

So when I spar I try and do as many rounds as I can, usually dying at the end.. This making sparring probably the hardest work I do, because when I do it, I try to get as much work in as possible.

I've had weeks where I've sparred 35-50 rounds. Not a lot of them, but when leading up to a fight...say 2-3 weeks before. Usually in 12-15 round sessions 3 times a week. All 3 min. rounds.

Now bear in mind, this wasn't all out. Some of it was. Some of it was also technical...being yelled at by my coach to do this or that, often being stopped and shown stuff as we go. Other rounds defensive, other offensive. A mix of stuff really.

If you consider all the conditioning and time we put in as boxers, it isn't unreasonable to think a person may do 50x2 min rounds or 50x3 min of sparring in a given week. That is 100-150 mins total. A lot of people do as much time as this daily in their workouts.

I do agree that a person needs to tailor their sparring for what lays in front of them, as in, right prior to a fight practicing the intensity they will be experiencing...by say going 3 or 4 rounds maximum intensity depending on their fight so the body is prepared for that duration...or more if they are professional.

But doing lots of rounds of sparring? Why not? There are few other things out there that will give you experience and conditioning as beneficial for the sport. The important thing I suppose is the quality of it.
