You have to consider the stiff opposition he has faced lately.

Winky? He felt JT's power. Winky's a warrior for taking those punches but deep inside, i know Winky felt JT's power.

Hopkins? Please. You can't land a clean shot on Hopkins let alone hurt him.

Pavlik. He knocked down Pavlik in the first fight. And Pavlik has a great chin.

Spinks? That guy is not a fighter. He is a rabbit running around the ring.

Ouma. No excuses. Not a good showing.

The JT that i saw in Pavlik 2 improved incredibly in terms of improving on his flaws. THAT JT can do great things at SMW. THAT JT is a completely different fighter from the one we saw prior. And prior to that, he was in the ring with great fighters. And he was getting by on raw talent almost exclusively.

I went for 8 rounds, I'd like to give an in depth analysis as to why but the truth is I just want to see Calslappy beaten, because he's a ****.

All very well, but I'm not the one making a bold statement here. I would never say Jermain Taylor has anything other than good power, and that's at middleweight. You are the one saying it's explosive, I'm the one pointing out the obvious idiocy in that statement and asking for evidence

You'd have thought he could have 1 knockout out of those guys, for such an explosive puncher. Especially Ouma and Spinks. Spinks CAN be knocked out, and has been. You would think such a prospect, one that I'm repeatedly told is a huge middleweight and an explosive puncher could do it

So overall, your "feeling" doesn't really cut it as evidence of his power. If Jermain Taylor has explosive power, you must have a pretty loose definition of the word, and there are a whole lot of explosive punchers out there

What i mean by "explosive power" is that he's got good enough power and when you add in his hand speed, his punches are "explosive" because they come in bunches and can hurt people when he connects. His problem was that he couldn't connect as accurately as one would like before Pavlik 2. But like i said, he seemed to improve on that. But the base talent is all there and always has been. I mean ****, this is a guy who fought Winky and Hopkins, 2 P4P guys, and held his own despite being very raw. So he was getting by on raw talent almost exclusively.

So what i'm saying is that the JT we saw in Pavlik 2, the much improved one, has "explosive power". He doesn't have Miranda one punch power but because he can put together combinations so quickly and he has good power behind them, they are "explosive" when he connects.

I voted for 2. Bernie will win 1 on guts & good timing with a few counters and the judges will feel pity and award him another 1 or 2. Joe is gonna outwork & outspeed all the remaining rounds.

RJJ and Mosley also has "explosive power". They aren't hard hitters but when you add in their hand speed and ability to get off 5-6 combinations in the blink of an eye, that can stun guys who don't even see them coming.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. They might look "explosive" but if thats your definition Paulie Malignaggi punches fast and in combinations - I wouldn't exactly call him explosive. Ultimately, speed helps if you have natural power, but it doesn't guarantee anything

Pavlik is a case in point anyway. He's slow as ****, and his hand speed is nothing out of the ordinary yet his power is far more "explosive"

It's not as if he even dropped many guys on that list, to backup what you are saying that it is simply accuracy that is hindering the effective use of this power

Mosley and RJJ (this is a really bad comparison) certainly have more natural power

Calzaghe doesn't hit as hard as he used to, and his power was never anything to write home about anyway. He caught Eubank with a flush left hook in the opening seconds of their fight and Eubank was up at about 2, smiling as if to say 'yeah OK I never saw that one'

Yes Eubank had a good chin, but so does Hopkins, and Joe doesn't pack that kind of a punch any more. There's only one person likely to get a stoppage in this fight, and thats Bernard.

Well, difference with Paulie M. is that he has no power. JT is a strong guy to begin with.

So you're picking Bernard by TKO or KO then?

    Good luck with that.......................

Strong at the weight, but that doesn't equate to natural power, which I don't believe he has a great deal of. But we'll have to disagree on that one. If he knocks out anybody in the SMW top 5, or maybe even top 10 I'll admit I was wrong

Pavlik's doesn't have "explosive" power. He has "thudding" power. He's just heavy handed. JT is not. He has to use a combination of speed AND power to generate his "explosive" power. And he has both traits to do that.
