Jones' opposition makes GGG's look amateur... And people are actually criticizing Jones for his weak opponents? I don't get it. At GGG's age Roy was a three weight world champ and looking to move to HW.. Lay off the pipe guys.

This thread makes more sense if the question was "how long would Roy last in the ring if he fought GGG today?" But even that is a dumb question.

And come on, Hopkins was a janitor? Ya'll must have forgot.

Are you on the right message board? This is a boxing board you've obviously strayed in here from somewhere else because you obviously know nothing about boxing.

Even if he did, which he wouldn't simply because Roy's speed and reflexes @ 160 were otherworldly, Bumlovkin doesn't have one punch KO power...

If you're going by landing 1 punch and it's over then only Julian Jackson does.

GGG would probably land a bomb that would sap Jones strength and then finish him within a round or two.

    LOL.

Obviously you've never seen Jones fight @ 160. Bumlovkin is WAY too slow to lay a glove on Roy and his defense is WAY too suspect to evade the incoming. I doubt Bumlovkin would make it past 4...

GGG knows how to shift. Speed won't work when you've got nowhere to run.

    LMFAO.

@ 160, Roy's speed is matched by his power. Bumlovkin gets knocked out by a punch he doesn't even see coming..

Meh Jones hit Hopkins and Toney 8000 times and still couldn't knock them out.

You think he cracks GGGs iron chin?

Hopkins and Toney have superior defense. Bumlovkin's defense, OTOH, has much in common with Swiss Cheese.

    Roy KO4..

You've hit your default setting again.

    Give it a rest.

Let's talk about Marvin. He was a great fighter. But Duran gave him something to think about, and a faded Leonard who was a peak WW frustrated the hell out of him with his movement.

Now let's compare MW versions of Roy and Ray. They were equally as skilled, equally as fast, equally as hard to hit, but Roy was bigger, heavier, and he had far more power at the weight. Yet you're telling me that Marvin would have obliterated Roy, even though he couldn't do anything with Ray who hadn't fought for 3 years? Don't let hate get in the way of logical thinking.

Hagler may have been able to have beaten Roy. But Roy's offense would have been a nightmare for him, and there's no way he would have obliterated him like he was some nobody. Marvin used to weigh in under 160 for some of his fights, whereas Roy would be a SMW/LHW come fight night.

Go and watch the Thomas Tate fight. Thomas Tate had gone 12 rounds with 'The Hawk' and Roy took him out like he was nothing in under 6 mins. So there's no way that either Marvin or GGG would have had an easy nights work against that version of Roy. But keep on hating if it makes you feel good.

Besides that, both Hopkins and Toney have legendary chins. They both have fought big punchers at higher weights who were not able to end the fight early...
