The thing that really astounds me is that Hennessy was giving it the 'all the offers we had were derisory' remarks, but I'd like to know how Primetime's 'turnover' for this fight stacks up in comparison to what he could have got elsewhere:think. This was a terrible piece of management but that is no suprise considering Hennessy's judgements on various other things. Only in boxing would something as farcical as this happen! The source is somewhere scenic that discusses boxing, BTW.
1283 × 15quid is just short of 20 grand yet it was reported that Mick turned down a 100 grand offer :rofl.
Exactly. Its stupid and short sighted. Put it on tele for the derisory offer, even do the same for the Kessler fight, then try doing a PPV. Guaranteed to make more that way than Micks.
He's probably getting paid so pitifully that he thought PPV was his only option. Sky will have spelt out the reality of his situation, as will iTV, regarding his financial expectations of Froch who is a media non-entity unless he's on free-to-air TV. That, along with the 2am odd start time meant that there was no way iTV were going to cough up £0.5m for a fight against an unknown yank. They must be congratulating themselves after such a tedious, pitiful showing. Anyway, someone else said it: should have swallowed his pride, taken the low offer and encouraged iTV to rescreen at a better time on top of the live showing. by taking that and keeping the costs low for the next fight, the guy might have built a following nationally. Either way, he's ****ed now.
as anyone actually seen the link i can't see the article on boxing scene but i wouldn't be shocked if it was true but i will wait till i see the article
Warren's promotional abilities cant be dissed. His successful fighters get paid big money, always on tv and they, eventually, fight the best.
