If Kovalev's confidence is shot then he could easily slip into the lower Top 5 of the division and start losing more fights.

The one to watch out for is Artur Beterbiev. He looks like Iron Man out there.

Even if you think that he beat Ward Kov he still can't be considered the best. He's not even a lineal champion!

Well there aren't many people who think ward won the fight so by default there's a moot point when discussing this topic. Kovalev being robbed is definitely a valid argument... because the majority of viewers think he was. That holds more weight than what's in the record book.

Beterbiev's risk-reward status is akin to Golovkin's following the Macklin KO. Credible, established opponents are getting steamrolled with ease. Golovkin was 31, and so is Beterbiev today.

It might take a bit before he gets to Ward, but man will I be watching on the edge of my seat when he does.

Why wouldn't he be the man? He is undefeated, no matter what corrupt American judges may say. He'll, if GBP bought 2 moRe judges in May vs Canelo fight, would we be asking if may was still "the man"? We all know who won.

I accidentally voted no cuz I was answering the question in the first post lol. Of course Kovalev is the champion still. The only thing that takes a hit is Andre Ward's name will forever be next to his in the history books saying he won when he really didn't. So whenever people talk about Kovalev OR Ward the robbery will forever be brought up.

Ward just beat the best guy @ 175 so that means that Ward is now the best @ 175. It isn't complicated.

Maybe the best at getting the biggest purses. Surely not the peoples champion @ 175. Or are you one of those who think Ward actually won.

I like Kovalev i really do, but two of his toughest fights (Chilemba and Hopkins) were both stopped. I'm starting to think maybe he's not all that. But I could easily be wrong.

Naw, he is not the man at 175 and neither is Ward. What Ward did was equal out the line and put Beterbiev, Stevenson, Sullivan and even Joe Smith in the mix.

Seems like you have a double standard going. Ward didn't KO Kovalev so he must not be so great than right?
