Both Ward and Dirrell I think will ultimately prove to be better fighters. Taylor "beat" Hopkins only on the cards of HBO's judges.:yep
he wasn't exposed. he's simply peaked after the hopkins fight. how come no one says vargas was exposed as a fraud. they all say he peaked after tito.
Taylor was good, but he had no fight plan in fights ever, he was just so fast that he won decisions, and he was younger and fresher. So when he got knocked out by Pavlik, it took away his invincibility and he keeps on being knocked out. Sort of like Donald Curry in early years. This Taylor would not have beaten Hopkins.
Taylor also beat Hopkins. Vargas really never beat a really great fighter. Taylor in my mind was a better fighter than Hopkins. Significantly.
atschatschatsch You're out of your mind if you think Taylor is a better fighter than Hopkins. ****, he needed the influence of HBO to "beat" him, and he didn't accomplish anything CLOSE to what Hopkins did in his career.
benard started working too late in the fight. jt won more rounds than hopkins but the rounds he won were not as convincing as the rounds that hopkins won. jt won rounds with jabs and just being active and hopkins won rounds by being very accurate and throwing strong punches, but hopkins just did not win enough rounds becasuse he didn't start working until the second half of the fight, which means jt probably had staminia problems even then.
He dethroned one of the best Middleweights of all time, and then defended it. No pure hype job could ever do that. There has to be something to him, maybe not great but deserves more respect than Zakman is giving him.
Sadly, you're probably right!!! Jeez, there's still people here who seem to think he can WIN the Super 6!!! atsch Now, that's insanity. Unless he gets some more gift decisions - which is unlikely since his stamina and chin are **** - he goes NOWHERE.
Youre hating cause if you were being objective, you wouldn't call the decisions he won against Hopkins X2 and Wright gifts, especially if you are one to favor the aggressor... all three fights were close, however, he was the busier guy in each of them and seemed to do just enough and more than the other guy to get the decisions in his favor; by no means were they robberies or "gifts". And yes, this is coming from a guy who believes he was and is still is overrated.... Taylor's main issues came from within -- both mental and he wasn't as much natural talent (in terms of fighting) as people make him out to be.
