I'm sure it happened a lot b4 there were split divisions, but seriously..when was the last example of this? He is pretty much weighing in as a super light weight.
Manny will weigh over 147 by tomorrow night. Hell, he weighed 147 on fight night when he weighed in at 135.
I think Zab Judah weighed around 144 for his fight against Clottey and that was a 12 round welterweight title fight just a few months ago. I thought it was a bit weirdsince he has been fighting at that weight for some time and he was going up someone alot bigger.
Is there a clause in the contract stipulating the maximum on-the-night weight that de la Hoya is allowed to go up to? Thanks.
Well no point adding too much weight after all Manny wants to retain his speed. Ricky Hatton has made the mistake of adding weight when moving up. When Roy Jones moved up to Heavyweight he came in at 193lbs which was well under the cruiserweight limit, imagine if he had weighed 215lbs he may not have won so easily !
The Cruiserweight limit was only 190 when Roy fought Ruiz. And the word was he was actually only 188.
